Pascal was demoted because although he got the decision over Gonzalez I felt he would have been very lucky to get a draw. Some have called the fight a robbery. I thought it was close but that Pascal hadn't done enough to win. Pascal was coming off a loss; add to that a debatable win over a previously unranked fighter and the demotion seems fair.

Like I said I had Gonzalez winning. I have watched the fight numerous times and the best I could give Pascal would have been a draw. The majority of the time I scored it to Gonzalez by a round. I think that is reflected in the rankings. Gonzalez deserved to enter and Pascal was only demoted a spot as I could see the possibility of a draw. But ultimately I thought Gonzalez had done enough to win.

You could compare it to yesterday's Payano vs Warren Bout. That fight was also close but I thought the right guy got the decision. Warren could have arguably got a draw but the 2 two times I have watched it I thought Payano won. Warren definitely advanced to just outside the 10 along with Rodrigo Guerrero and Lee Haskins, but unlike the Pascal/ Gonzalez fight I didn't think Warren won.

Danny Garcia is now officially a Welterweight.

Number nine Daniel Jacobs (30-1, 27 KOs) traded first round knockdowns with fringe contender Sergio Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs). Mora went down again in the second where he suffered an injury to his right ankle and was unable to continue. Jacobs was awarded a second round stoppage victory. No changes.

WELTERWEIGHT:

Former Super-Lightweight Champion Danny Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs) enters at number ten after scoring a ninth round stoppage over veteran fringe contender Paul Malignaggi (33-7, 7 KOs). Previous number ten Robert Guerrero (33-3-1, 18 KOs) exits to make room for Garcia.

SUPER-LIGHTWEIGHT:

Danny Garcia (30-0, 17 KOs) is removed as Champion as he is now campaigning at Welterweight and he has not scheduled a defense at this weight within fifteen months.

LIGHTWEIGHT:

Number ten Emiliano Marsili (32-0-1, 14 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over unrated Gamaliel Diaz (38-13-3, 17 KOs). No changes.

FEATHERWEIGHT:

Previous number five Jhonny Gonzalez (58-9, 49 KOs) stopped unrated Kazuki Hashimoto (11-5, 7 KOs) in the second round of a Super-Featherweight bout. Gonzalez exits as he has officially moved up in weight. Everyone rated six through ten last time advances a place each. Eric Hunter (21-3, 11 KOs) enters at number ten.

SUPER-BANTAMWEIGHT:

Number seven Chris Avalos (26-3, 19 KOs) won an eight round unanimous decision over unrated Rey Perez (20-7, 5 KOs) in a Featherweight bout. No changes.

BANTAMWEIGHT:

Number four Juan Carlos Payano (17-0, 8 KOs) won a very close twelve round split decision over unrated Rau’shee Warren (13-1, 4 KOs). No changes.

Shouldn't Walters exit the Featherweight rankings? He missed weight and was stripped of his title last time he fought. He's huge for 126. I can't see him fighting there again

A fighter is considered active in a weight class if they fight within 2 pounds of the weight limit (although a Championship must be defended at or under the weight limit). Walters managed to get down to 127 so he still has until June next year before the inactivity clause kicks in.

I agree he is big for the weight class but according to his adviser Robert Mittleman he is staying at Featherweight for now.

You guys may be right, but he seems to think he can make weight. Apparently Walters got too big between fights after stopping Donaire and being named Jamaican Sportsman of the year in '14 it was party time. After the Marriaga fight he was back in the gym after only a week.

Nice work and consistent effort on these. Do you automatically drop a fighter from top ten after 1 yr inactivity or take into consideration circumstances? Welter is interesting with Maidana hitting the year mark. Garcia for example, I'd have a hard time bumping Guerrero if it wasn't for his shaky performance with Martinez. On one hand he established championship and fought a couple of the top five, having some moments vs both. On the Garcia beat a semi retired Paulie coming off a brutal ko and tip toed in. Great work, just thinking out loud.
