~ Luigi Musina Repeats Win Over Primo Carnera ~
Italian Light-Heavyweight Champion - Luigi Musina scored a repeat win over come-backing
Heavyweight Champion - Primo Carnera.
The physically-fit Musina, out-weighed by 85 lbs. used repeated left-jabs and left-hooks to
completely out-box the lumbering ex-Champion over the first-half of the bout.
With the bout well in hand, Musina started to unload heavy looping right-hands on the
plodding Giant's chin in Rounds 5 and 6, staggering Carnera in each of the Rounds.
But the 39 year-old Carnera showed courage, and managed to land a few heavy left-jabs
to the head of his smaller opponent in Rounds 7 and 8 to take the last 2-Rounds. But it
was not enough to overcome his early Rounds point loss to the better-boxing Musina.
This was Carnera's 2nd-straight loss to Luigi Musina, who had stopped Primo 4-Months earlier
on November 21, 1945.
The Associated Press scored the bout 5 Rounds {Musina}, 1 Round {Even} and 2 Rounds for
Carnera.
Primo Carnera >
"I think that I will give it one more try. I fought better tonight than I did in our previous bout.
Luigi is fast, and I just couldn't land the big punch that would have turned the bout in my favor."
Luigi Musina >
"Primo fought better tonight than he did in our last bout, but he's still very slow, and a sucker
for looping right-hands. If he wants to fight me again, I will oblige him."
