Berto is fast, but I don't think speed by itself makes someone a good boxer. However, fans are often mystified by it and assume that a fast boxer is automatically good. I fall victim to this too. If we're disecting him, his technique and defense is only so-so and he doesn't know how to adjust. Ortiz and Guerrero are only OK. They're not great. If you really think about it, who has Berto beat that was anything above good?
By the way, this is all relative. He's still a professional boxer that made a lot of money plying his trade. That's remarkable by itself.
