And I said he was caught and it was a steroid whether he bought it at Gnc or the 7-11. I'm not debating whether Margarito cheated or not. He did and was a scum bag for doing so. I'm also saying that he has gotten his comeuppance and that the horse has been beaten to top soil. Nothing left of the Nag to hit.
Not only has he lost everything but his name will forever be remembered and joined at the hip to the likes of Luis Resto. A man that I myself have compared him to in the past. If you want to get philosophical about it then consider it revisiting the subject matter like we all do for practically everything in life at times. Logic suggests that he had to know his mitts felt different but that's not proof and its also quite possible that he zones himself out listening to the Tijuana brass band or something during the wrap stage. Whereas Resto had his gloves removed and then brought back and they had to feel like wearing hand condoms. So then it becomes a question of intent and by whom. There is reasonable doubt in one case and none in the other.
Now suppose we accept he knew. Well, then maybe he felt he was going up against a known juicer who could just as well be juicing for this very important fight and wanted to even the playing field knowing also that his opponent had a titanium chin.
Because he cheated in that fight does not necessarily mean that he cheated in the fights prior. Again, I am as guilty as anyone for nailing this guy to the cross, posting pictures and making conclusions. I mean reasoning suggests that if he was going to cheat against old man Mosley then he was going to cheat against a prime Cotto. I believe that myself but that's not proof. And again if he was did he know it or did his wrapping become like starting ones car. Routine?
This is not an exercise in defense of the guy but I'll say it again, the man has suffered enough. His wife, children, money and his legacy in the sport. Whats left to take? And when you add in the historic Mex/Pr rivalry into this mix, the freakin wheels fall off.
And again we all cheer for cheaters every week. Most of the guys at the top are cheaters and they are premeditating it. We know this and support them. That's both cherry picking on our part and hypocrisy. Why do fighters look so flat when they fight Floyd when prior to fighting him they look so unstoppable? Is it because Floyd is that good or is it his testing demands or both?
Look the bottom line for me is that he has paid dearly for his part in the drama and deserves the opportunity to both have a second chance and make a living in the only way he knows how.
