It really is a deep question the more one thinks about it because it has a lot to do with the colour of a mans skin but also so much more. Again I cant even begin to know what it was like for Dixon being the first African descended champion. To walk down the street and have a slave name. The hate must have has its own taste.

With all of this talk about Johnson how did we overlook Tommy Burns. He was ostracized in the truest sense of the word for fighting Johnson. Authour and devote racist Jack London took out full newspaper articles. People wanted to hang poor Tommy.
Good call on Dixon. I remember some article down here about a tourney he was in and the backlash. The only thing he was 'guilty' of was dominating his white opponent and scoring a ko. The fans were livid and the venue refused 'mixed' fights after. No wonder it was Dixons only fight in the deep south before and after.
