But in Chicago and Detroit and New York it's gang related it's socioeconomic issues it's the war on drugs.

Just banning guns is the simplistic answer AND it violates the rights of all law abiding citizens....why does everyone so quickly come to the conclusion that a gun ban would change everything? Guns are banned in Mexico and you see how much more peaceful they have it...granted Fast and Furious gifted the Narcos loads of weapons in order to get the ball rolling on gun bans in the United States but oh well
#1. Yes you are correct shooting(s) happen for a myriad of reasons. I think we all can agree on that from defense to aggressive to just someone went loco. I don't think anyone would disagree & have a logical point.

I think it would be good to take a poll here and see who does support gun bans- to question why.

    Overall:
My previous post already stated what I think of the Democratic party's take on gun banning: Again I am against it. Also previously stated: my stance isn't right to bare arms vs right to ban guns. America isn't made up of just two kinds of thinking people, know what I mean?

Every gang banger you stated has a fire weapon. I add: with a serial number: One side too ready to ban- the other side to ready to ignore how/why legal weapons turn up in the hands of gangbangers, mentally ill and those who aren't registered.---we went across the globe to find cave dwelling muslims who may have WMD's but we cant even try to create a system where we go after those who have them here? Guns are weapons. Manufacturers manufacture them. How does the same nation that crosses nations to stop murderers- just say- constitutional right to have a gun- its not a weapon. Its a constitutional right and leave it at that?
If we start there and fail- then we could at least say we tried (something) instead of continued lip service from a partisan perspective.

We need to end the war on drugs because that is what is causing all the gang violence. Get rid of (or significantly diminish) the profits those gangs are fighting over and voila LESS violence....care for a precedent? How about the 21st Amendment repealing the Prohibition of Alcohol?

Of course I would never support a firearm ban....because I've seen what it does to places like Chicago, Detroit, New York, and Washington DC. DC used to have a basketball team named "The Bullets" as it was homicide capital of the United States! And Chicago is now called ChIraq because of how many murders there are....and again, the guns were already banned there! So not having a gun means you're obeying the law, but it makes you a subject of those who don't obey the law.

As for this specific shooting, the man was twisted plain and simple, if he had no gun he would have used a bomb, I guarantee it!
REALLY?! These are the "Racist" Words Alison Parker Said That Caused her Death

"Swing by" and "a reporter in the field" were apparently terms Vester considered racist.

Just to put things in perspective while we are talking preventable deaths because I do believe nutters will kill regardless (maybe not mass murder as easy without a machine gun) but they still will.

There are around 500,000 deaths in the US per year as a direct result of smoking. Compared to probably 30,000 from guns. So although guns grab the headlines, more people die from second hand smoke than guns.

Just to try and put things in perspective.

Nowhere in the UK is it ok to have a firearm like it is in some US states.
If say Scotland had similar relaxed gun laws like some of your states then we would have a massive problem like you have but they aren't and we don't.
Its gotta be an all out ban across the entire country to even begin to tackle the problem, that is the USA problem.
A 10 year old could suss that out to be honest
That's just fucking sad. I can't believe people are ok with that. What do you do if someone breaks into your house? What if someone owes you money and refuses to pay? A gun in the house is way more important than a TV or refrigerator. Way more important. Guns in the house equal peace of mind and safety. America without guns is not an America I want to live in

You do not need a gun to protect yourself. A bat, knife or any solid object would be sufficient. What sort of sick world do you live in?

If I said what I want to say about this I'd be banned and accussed of race hate. So it's better that I say nothing.

A world without guns might well be a better place.

Unfortunately, once something is invented, it cannot be uninvented.

A ban on guns (anywhere) most certainly never means that there are no guns in that place. Generally, it results in criminals and ne'er do wells obtaining guns illegally and gaining an advantage over their potential victims.

It's not right that criminals, who are the people who will misuse firearms, end up having a massive superiority over their victims.

Equally, it's not right that everybody ends up with a gun and general nutters, mentally unbalanced people and psychopaths can all be armed to the teeth, which results in the mass shooting tragedies that we see so often.

This is a tough one, but logic tells us that the universal right to bear arms doesn't work ..... but neither does a blanket 'ban' that can not be enforced.

Rather than arguing in binary terms, people might be better served by concentrating on what 'shade of grey' might work best?

Didn't the government in England go through quite a lot of hoops to get guns back from the populace and make sure they know everyone who does have a gun. I know I've read a bit about it but I'd like to hear it from the source itself. Six percent of guncrimes are committed with what would be described as legal guns in the US. I'm all for a world without guns but I don't like the thought of only those in power having them.

Last time a "machine gun" was used in a shooting? ??

I know a person who is licensed to have automatic firearms....It's not an easy license to get and it's work to keep.

I think that If you live "along the river" in south Texas and do not own and carry a gun, you are fucking mental.
