In the UK we say Asian to refer to both groups (for want of a better word) and always have done.

If you said - "I'm going for an Asian," I would most likely think you meant an Indian curry house as there are billions of them in Britain (I believe it's the most popular grub here). What you would hear though for distinction is

"I'm going for a Chinese"

"I'm going for an Indian"

"I'm going for a Ruby" (slang for curry)

Personally, I suspect that the Rotherham crimes were committed by members of the poorest, least integrated and worst educated stratum of society. They happen to be Pakistani in Rotherham, but I wouldn't be too surprised if other, or similar, crimes are being committed in other cities or countries by another 'race' or nationality ..... who are the poorest, least integrated and worst educated stratum of that society.

having said that, the local Council have covered themselves with shame for their incompetence, inaction, beaurocracy and political correctness. They should burn in hell for that, as should all councils as a matter of principle

Also, the idiots and fools worldwide who bastardise a religion onto some sort of medieval pubescent boys fantasy should also be eventually judged by their heavenly best mate too
