Too much drug profit to lose..somebody owes somebody for building a clean fuckin tunnel like this- Subways stations aren't this nice.
When you consider how many "great" American families made their fortunes through smuggling, be it rum (way back when), opium, during Prohibition...it doesn't make sense to expect that they quit, not with the profit margins so high. Especially when you can create a war on drugs to keep them high, pass laws to direct the focus of that war, etc...
