While I agree with you they are behaving like beast mode: the conspiracy theory in me argues that since 2004 or so, military contractors are in greater numbers than our Great soldiers.
From Iraq to Afghanistan, our military is bound not just by the Geneva convention, but a code of honor, whereas contractors aren't tied to neither.
With that said, how can we assume all contractors have just missions?

The few kids in 1990 in Iraq that survived Saddam's war, survived Desert Storm, sanctions...the crushing of their uprising aka Intifada that was crushed when American General schwarkopf gave Saddam back his helicopters to mow down tens of thousand caught trying to escape....those who survived ALL that....

The thing is, this conflict is as old as civilization itself and in the end has nothing to do with economics on their end save a means and everything to do with basic tribal religious practices and interpretations of a fairy tale.

The trouble is when the coalition was at the gates of Bagdad, they let all the Republican guard take off their uniforms and melt back into the public. The West then appointed a puppet tin pot who happened to be Shia and the Shia were oppressed by Saddam and his Sunni republican guard. Their brutal rivalry can be traced back to the dawn of man. Anyway back is a bitch and the Shia backed puppet government went about to do what Saddam did to the Sunni's. The Republican guard came out of the shadows and started ICIS and now it has morphed into this Holy war and war of civilizations.

It makes little difference now how many mercenaries or soldiers are there. And in Syria does anyone even know who they are shooting at? Now we got the Russians bombing people the West is backing.
Our influence is why we are in this mess. We sleep with the Saudis and park jets on Saudi soil to bomb bronze age countries back to the stone age. Now Irans involved and ICIS blows up a bomb in Beriut because they hate Hezbollah who are backed by the Iranians. This is insane. Just get out and lets contractors, bag men, kill each other. Pull all western forces out and let the chips fall where they may. Why should those innocents in our countries suffer for hatchet job foreign policy? Nothing has changed in 4000 years with these people. Its not even about defeat or winning and losing. We cant win period and that should be obvious by now. How about we quit bombing their innocent people. Whats the distinction between our brand of terrorism and theirs? Since they keep telling us to get out of the Arab world maybe we should try it? What do we need it for?

The bottom line for me is this, if this was a science experiment the conclusions would have been drawn years ago but because its a social experiment it seems to have an eternal shelf life. Why do we continue to do the same thing over and over and over again and expect different results? When Einstein coined that as a definition of insanity, he was not talking about math or physics. It was really a social commentary. Its been a colossal failure. Now these animals are most likely sending their flock to the west as Syrian refugees. I'm thinking Christ himself may need to make an appearance or we wash our hands of this mess.
