It is said that even when he was at his peak, because of his Kidney problem, he was only operating at about 70%.That is incredible. He singlehandedly changed the sport forever .
Very sad day for Rugby Union.
Only just found out about half n hour ago that he died. I knew he had problems with his kidney but I thought he was over it. Sad day. Rugby does not have a load of superstars like other sports but he was the first and still is, the biggest name in Rugby. I remember what he did in 95 world cup, I was 13, it was incredible.

His national rugby career was like his life, short. he stopped playing for the all blacks at 26, (his peak years) he kidney problems dogged him throughout his career, but his legacy still lives on.
