Canelo's defense is being g severely underrated here. He had poise and won the fight clearly imo. Different tactics I thought Cotto didn't stand as much ground early to try to preserve himself but it backfired because Canelo wasn't worn at all late. Good fight though, ridiculous judging but we know what sport we're in.

I can not think of a round expect a few of the early wons that i would give Cotto he was flurrying and missing most shots and backing up doing nothing really but staying away. Alvarez was landing better body punches and uppercuts and was dodging good amount of shots it is clear he won it by alot.

First off Cotto's wife looked like a dam call girl. How can you have all that money and have a wife that looks like a trashy pornstar ?

He must have gotten himself in tremendous shape. He took some very hard punches and he took them well. Canelo won and I think he'd give triple G nightmares. It's fight that will tell me everything about Triple G. Triple G has not fought headline fighter. He's hasn't fought a fighter who everyone has heard of. If he gets in the ring with Canelo that will change.

And people think Canelo's team will be the ones scared to take the fight, I think it Triple G's team will be more wary. I think Canelo beats Triple G.

Disgraceful scoring and a good hype job by HBO to turn a close competitive win for Canelo into a whitewash.

Good fight. Canelo is very solid, polished, and competitive. Cotto fought well too and was very tough. Vargas vs. Minea stole the show.

I scored the fight right here and I cant see a rd for Alvarez in the first 4 and he started to show up mid way. I had Cotto winning slim and thought there could be a draw so the WBC might gain some respect but the cards were bunk. Its like every close rd went to Alvarez. I just cant see anything close to 9-3

You know your boxing far better than I do. However, I feel Cotto deserved more than just 3 rounds.

See i do not get how you can not give a round for Ginger in first rounds and then bitch about the judging it seems weird to me that you say the judges scores are bad and gave all early rounds to Cotto. I mean Alvarez was dodging most of the punches and landing hard body shots just doing better.

What fight were you watching? I'm not questioning your actual post but canello is certainly not ginger any more and he would probably be quite offended if he heard you dismissing his dye job

I got to say though i did not see Avarez boxing this well i mean his defense was something else he was dodging most of of punches and doing most of the fight. Also batman i had no idea he dyed his hair or maybe that is a joke and i am not getting either way Alvarez won easy anyhow.

The scorecards were dreadful. I thought it was a fight of two halves and as a result was pretty even. Cotto started better with more activity and sharper boxing, whilst Canelo came on in the second half. Canelo was bigger and landed the harder shots, but Cotto outboxed a bigger stronger man in the first half.

    1. Cotto

    3. Alvarez

    7. Cotto
    8. Alvarez
    9. Alvarez
    10. Cotto
    11. Alvarez
    12. Alvarez

    Draw.

First things first. Canelo won the fight, and my congratulations to him and his team. He fought well enough to win, although I thought the scorecards were excessively wide. Still.... he did a great job, and my hat's off to him. He also spoke very well during and after the fight. He's got a great future ahead of him, provided he keeps his discipline and fights at the weight he's meant to fight.

No regrets from Cotto's effort, though. He fought his heart out, and did the best he possibly could. It turns out I was right. The size, age, and power difference were just too much to overcome. Cotto outboxed Canelo in several rounds, hence my opinion that the judges were, albeit predictably, very unkind to him.

Cotto has nothing to hang his head about. He lost to a bigger, stronger, younger, up-and-coming fighter in what to me was a great fight. If he were to walk away from boxing at this point, he's had a spectacular HOF career and has nothing left to prove. Cotto haters are elated, of course, but hey you can't win them all. I was happy with Cotto's effort, but willing to accept the defeat.

    Thanks Freedom!!!!

Mayweather taught these two well. Very defensive fight by both. 8th round was the only standout round imo. All Canelo. I had it 6-4-2 even. Canelo.
    9/10 really hard to score.
Bad advice from Roach in the championship rounds. but..based on the score cards it wouldn't have mattered.

Solid jab per Cotto, but nothing else. Canelo best asset imo was using the center of the ring as a basis for his work.
He didn't cut the ring off BUT!! He didn't chase/follow Cotto. He kinda... would step back toward the center ring which allowed him to just simply turn to compensate for all of Cotto's movement.

Canelo was ready to trade, but Roach and Cotto wanted none of that.
All's lost! Everything's going to shit!
