Duran only retired from boxing because of a car accident didn’t he? He had the physiology to carry on boxing until he was 100.
The mind and heart is still there but the body is gone, he's in his sixties. The man was a monster. I'll never understand where that "No mas, no mas!" came from.
He had been partying since the win against Leonard and had to lose an unrealistic amount of weight before the fight which left him in terrible condition.
He knew he didn't have a chance of winning and probably wouldn't even have had the stamina to finish -- so he quit.
