Ok, by saying making him 3" shorter that he wouldnt have the same success is not degrading his skills?
Tyson didnt beat Wlad by being big. He beat him with movement exactly like I said he would. Wlad also didnt get old. His feet were quick but he didnt want to get in punching range and combined with Tysons speed and movement it gave Wlad no chance and ended up looking pretty much as I said it would like Clay v Liston.
Fury threw enough to win the round to beat Wlad but the former champions output was very low. Wlad looked confused and bewildered in the fight as if his mind was on something else. It was a bad performance by Wlad but so glad Fury won the title.
I hope the rematch is in UK.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Fury had a more dangerous opponent in front of him.
Why? What 6,6" heavies are there that have Furys other attributes? Like movement, speed, combination punching and stamina?
His mind was on not getting caught amd bewildered is right. Hes never faced anyone who can move like Tyson. Only when he knew the clock was runnng down in the 12th did he start throwing caution to the wind.
Not sure about any of those answers, but I can't be fucked to copy all those quotes in and make a 3 million word post.
Out of Curiousity Ross, what are your thoughts on the rumour doing the rounds in Europe that Wlad threw the fight?![]()
Its easier for a fighter to land a jab when he has a height advantage. Furys movement is based on being able to land from distance. Being the same size as his opponent makes this harder. If he was shorter then Wlad he would have to get inside as Wlad would likely land the punches from outside making it harder for Fury to win.
Its not degrading him, hes trained his abilities to suit his physical attributes. Its like saying Whittaker wouldnt be as good as he was if he didnt have good reflexes!
David Haye moves better then Fury in my opinion and has better boxing skills. In saying that he wont beat Wlad (and possibly Fury) because hes too small.
Ross - of course Fury wouldnt be as good if he was 3 inches shorter. Thats not degrading at all its just common sense. A heavyweight will never match a welterweight in terms of skill. Hes carrying much more weight and will never move as fluently or as gracefully. Just like a welter is never going to have the punching power of a heavy or have to worry about every opponent having the power to hurt you.
