On Christmas Day, I made the mistake/fulfilled my duty as an American consumer and went to see the new "Star Wars" bwahahaha. The adventure explained this question: Why do so many of the reviews carry a tone of disappointment?
The answer is that "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," is BASURA, UN PEDACITO DE MIERDA, GARBAGE, TRASH, RUBBISH, WHAT HAVE YOU. It's professionally made OK YES: it displays Quality Control. But it's depressing and unimaginative and BORING in long stretches, and reproduces George's original 1977 movie to the point of plagiarism.
The issue for me is whether "The Force Awakens" deserves to even be considered as a movie, because it's not! It's a vast commercial program, factory-made for maximum audience appeal, which means maximal inoffensiveness. The result tells us a lot about the state of entertainment today, and about the future of Hollywood.
