Yeah, very different films. Raging Bull is the Greatest Boxing film ever, with the greatest Actor ever.
The Rocky films are fantasy and include one of the most wooden actors ever, but you know what? It's FUN.
Some Boxing fans take the Rocky films too seriously, they should take them for what they are.
Mind you, it totally makes me cringe and piss me off a little bit when Stallone is put into the Hall of Fame, and don't get me started about the Contender, when they're having lunch, him at one end of the table and Sugar Ray at the other , and he's holding court, telling boxing anecdotes, and the boxers are mesmerised!!!
Boys just want to have fun and Rocky 4 is inspirational film.

Don't get me wrong, I like Rocky 4. It's a fun film, but it just lacks depth for me. James Brown is all well and good, but he doesn't belong in a Rocky film. It just got a bit silly. Stallone was too obsessed with making Russia look bad at that time and he did the same with Rambo 3. I like all the Rocky films really, but I just think 5 gets a hard time. It is a good story with the return to poverty, the portrayal of a damaged ex fighter, the relationship with his kid and losing focus as Rocky lets Tommy take over and then the betrayal as the King wannabe steals Tommy away and Rocky realises that he has got it all wrong. I remember going to see it at the pictures and it was empty, but even then I really liked it.
Rocky was so embarrassed by 5 that it did not even happen when they made 6.

True, but I think that was slightly dishonest as they needed a way to get round the brain damage to make Rocky Balboa. It couldnt really exist unless they destroyed Rocky 5.
I'm going tonight. Preview screening. Hearing good things so we'll see. Even heard Stallone may get an Oscar nod.
Rocky IV was my favourite as a teen. It came along at the right time but now I'm middle age my order is....
Rocky
Rocky 2
Rocky 3
Rocky Balboa - sentimental angle
Rocky 4
Rocky 5
Although the first was the best if I was bored then 2 is the one I'd put on

I am a child at heart and that is why Rocky 4 is my favourite. I loved the music which I train too and remember queuing in the cinema to watch it with all the audience cheering when Rocky was winning and booing when Drago was beating Rocky. The atmosphere was mental and it was like we were watching a live fight.

Stallone the actor the contender was pure theater, add a bit of Sugar Ray commercialized trod it
turned out to be! polished and slick boxing for nice people.
Raging old Jake a twat great stuff how it was how it is ! Creed is all right if you like Rocky simple plot nothing to taxing for the masses.
Nothing wrong with Rocky films but Raging Bull is the boy for me.
I liked the champ.

Spoiler alert if not seen.
Well that film wasn't bad. Like the Force Awakens it followed the plot of Rocky 1 mind.
Issues I had - both with film itself and the plot
Bellew character was corny as hell
Getting title shot after one fight
Rocky not speaking to Creeds wife since funeral
Rocky Jr. dropping his dad like that
Either Cuff or Link was dead
Final fight was good but was back to exchanging KO blows like Rocky II
Motorbike scene was wank
And who the hell owned Micks gym?
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate
Rocky jr inherited the gym from Mick in Rocky V but I didn't get the impression Rocky owned it - seemed to be more the other guy.
And why did Bellew ridicule Creed in the presser saying he'd only had one fight - not realistic. He'd try give it credibility without crying mismatch.
just me being picky when it comes to realism !!
