Isn't it strange the way someone dies and suddenly everybody becomes a fan. He has something like 26 albums racing up the charts. 'Everybody knows me now' indeed! Still, kind of cool that Bowie is getting out there and if it can change more lives, then that is great. I've been a bit down after the death, but I finally sat down and listened to the new album properly and it is excellent. I also love how Bowie has had himself cremated already as he didn't want a fuss. It's not just the music, but a code of conduct. Bowie is someone to admire because he seems to have been a really cool person as well as the greatest musical artist in music history. I don't say that lightly, his body of work is unmatched. Also a hysterically funny person too. Some are talking about other tracks made before his death and about what is in the vaults, but I am happy with what we have. It is a great body of work and even if you are not a fan I am sure you would find something in there that you do like simply because of the range of the work.
To know that Bowie wanted to start work on another new album only a week before his death shows his incredible commitment. He had 5 songs ready and said 'one more album', but then he got sick and it was the end, but to know that was on his mind, is just extraordinary. I was really upset earlier in this thread, but now I feel strangely positive knowing Bowie went out on his own terms and that he spoke to his fans through the art.
