Most people make it into a party, when it's really just a football game.

But for today...... got my muchies and beer..... and my favorite seat on the couch!!

    GO PATRIOTS!!!!!!
I'm getting anxiety watching the pats Brady getting banged up a bit.

I wanted a Patriots - Cardinals Super Bowl, so naturally it's going to be a Broncos - Panthers Super Bowl.
Oh well..... I'll be rooting for old fogie Manning to win another ring and ride off into the sunset.

Brady DID get trashed by the Broncos, didn't he....
Yes, he got beat up. Tough year he had with that line.

Always been a Brady fan and think he overachieved this year given that O-line and the key injuries by Edelman, Gronk, and Lewis (out for the season). He was playing with a chip on his shoulder after last year's Deflategate fiasco. Was hoping he'd get to the big show, but I won't feel too bad if Peyton gets his last ring.
Screw Peyton, he has his commercials, I will not root nor be happy if he wins.

LOL...... I have an ulterior motive for rooting for Peyton.

I have an obnoxious brother-in-law who's a Giants fan, and he swears Eli is the best QB in the world. Unfortunately, he's got those two SB rings to back him up. I, of course, think he's been lucky and that he's dreadfully inconsistent. I also rate Peyton higher than Eli. So I'd like Peyton to get his 2nd ring (?), so he can at least catch up to little brother in that regard.

I am definently not a nfl expert and I watch it pretty inconsistently but I did see the two superbowls that elis team won and I thought he played pretty well at the end of those games so even though everyone makes fun of him for being a bit crap I think he deserves a lot of credit for his achievements. I don't think you can win two super bowls(and be mvp in both games), go to the pro bowl 4 times and be the all time leader for the ny giants in a lot of qb stats without being a pretty good player.... errr I forget what i am arguing here but I think I want to say Eli must be a very good player and is treated a bit harshly by the media and the fans.

anyway I have bet 5 canadian quids on the broncos to win the superbowl(also bet on the point total being exactly 44 :S).. I wasn't impressed at all by carolina in the 2nd half against the seahawks and I suspect they are a bit fragile mentally and could find the occasion too big for them, Denver seem to have a very good defence and the good defence usually wins, so I have predicted a low scoring denver win.. Could be a very good game, especially if payton gets back to his best.

also I hope the broncos win for Manning, although I don't really care who wins

My brother-in-law would buy you a beer for that Eli defense.

I'm not saying he's trash... but his career has been plagued by inconsistency. There's as many stats in pro football as stars in the sky..... but one that attempts to gather all significant QB stats into one number is Passer Rating. Take a look at the career Passer Rating of some of the game's QB's.

NFL Career Passer Rating Leaders | The Football Database

Eli's # 35 on the list, below some guys like Tannehill, Flacco, Alex Smith, Brunell... etc. Now look at the top of the list. All the great ones are there: Rodgers, Peyton, Brady, Montana, Young, Warner....

I think Eli lucked out in playing with some great Giants teams. Great defense, running, and wide receivers. Some of these greats have sometimes done a lot with very little. Brady was a case in point this season. 3rd and 4th string running backs..... a totally reshuffled offensive line..... and injuries to key receivers.

The thing about Eli is he'll just as soon throw for 5 touchdowns, and the very next game throw for 5 interceptions. I think he's benefitting from the change in coaches, so his numbers may go up. But he's also had some incredible luck. If it wasn't for "Helmet Catch" a few years ago, the Patriots would have one more SB win and the Giants would have one less. Fate just seems to smile on this kid. Now he's got Odell Beckham, who seems to catch any ball within a half-mile radius.

But maybe my bro-in-law is right. Maybe I'm just a hater.

    So tomorrow's the Super Bowl.

Strange as it may sound, I don't get up as much for the Super Bowl as I do for the previous two weeks (Divisional titles, Conference Championships). Probably for two reasons: One, the Super Bowl is all about the hype, halftime show, and the casual "fans" who don't know shit about football but only get interested when the Super Bowl comes around. Probably half those fans couldn't even name another team that reached the Conference Championships. Two..... it's a letdown after the Super Bowl's over. No more football until October, 'cause I don't even count preseason.

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!

Thanks Beanz! Got my chips, beer.... and assorted refreshments. Got some people coming over.... not too many, as I watch the game itself first, and the halftime show second. At other places the Super Bowl is just an excuse to drink, party, and critique the halftime show. I'm actually watching it for the game. Technology being what it is today, it's so much better to watch one of these events on a large HD set, with a good sound system. It's the next best thing to being there live. It's even better in some aspects, really, except you don't get to watch the cheerleaders as much. On the other hand..... no bad seats. Tomorrow it'll be Super Bowl hangover..... and be content with watching the NBA (not too much of a fan) until next fall, when the next season begins.

    Cheers!

Wow... they just presented the Super Bowl MVP's from the last 49 years, in commemoration of Super Bowl 50.
    Nice!
