It seems a suicide mission to make the most money.

But I thought the exact same thing when Mosley, Floyd and Pac man were due to fight Oscar De La Hoya and they pulled it off and became superstars.
Only all three were considered top p4p fighters and were cleaning own divisions first. I did think Manny was in somewhat deep vs Oscar, then we saw the weigh in and Oscar looked an extra from 'The walking dead'.
This. Also, too, I don't think Oscar was ever any better than Canelo is at 154. In this case, if anyone is more worn out it's Khan, and the natural size discrepancy is just as bad. Plus, Mosley was hard as nails and extremely difficult to hurt. If he was chinny DLH would have beaten him. Not seeing the parallels myself.

2002 Oscar @ 154 was miles ahead of Canelo at this point.

Replace Cotto with 2002 Oscar vs Canelo, Oscar wins convincingly.

I probably agree with that, but what can you base it on? Vargas was the only impressive win Oscar had at 154... Not saying he wasn't a better boxer than CAnelo(though even then you have to give it time), but he started his careeer at 130. I highly doubt alvarez could have made anything under welter since he was a teenager. He is naturally a bigger man.

The other way around more like.

PPV. Just still cannot believe that nerve. Wonder what direction they'll go with undercard, nothing as of yet

on a side HBO is not exactly putting out good product so far...Kovalev card was two complete mismatches really. Upcoming Crawford v Lundy should go the same way. Then Manny v Bradley on PPV in a fight few seem to care about and this in May.

No rehydration clause for this so Canello can come in as heavy as he likes which means Khan could be fighting a light heavyweight or cruiserweight if he goes up to 180-185 lbs.
Amazed Khan didn't demand a clause at 170 lbs seeing as the heaviest he has weighed was 160 lbs.

Middleweight Championship bouts are contested at 160lbs limit!
Any federation that doesn't adhere to the weight classes established is not representing boxing tradition.
How a fighter can adjust the rules to suit his own agenda is beyond me. It's a joke this match up was even made, Khan hasn't even fought in the division and the weight is at 154+1 a "junior" limit not Middleweight.

Being a fan of one man or the other has nothing to do with standing by the rules concerning weight limitations. Just another mark against boxing not being able to police itself.
Khan needs to fight Garcia and Canelo vs GGG is THE fight now at 160lbs! Disappointed in Alvarez!

Regardless of what weight Cannelo comes in at if he lands a flush bomb on Amir he's gonna fuck him.
But the heavier he comes in the slower he's gonna be and he's slow anyway.
Could be a mistake coming in too heavy as Khan is super fast and a great athlete.
Khans gonna have to fight in machine gun bursts then leg it and repeat for 12 seriously disciplined rounds.
Huge ask against a guy who will just walk through your punches.
Possible ... yes but one mistake and he's gonna get brutally banged out.

All the fighters who have had Khan in trouble were slow, yet he has he has beaten a good few solid speedy guys without being hurt. Khan has super fast hands, but he's not especially clever defensively and doesn't move laterally very well. He's also not nearly strong enough to tie up on the inside and buy himself time and space, Alvarez will just rag doll him.

Good sum up, Canelo can afford to make twenty times the mistakes compared to Khan. Just the pressure of knowing it will probably make Khan even more tense than he already is. Walking on egg shells. Fatty Canelo has also experienced carrying the weight and moving vs faster guys quite a bit. Everything is new for Khan, and a soggy 155 or more will negate that speed big time.

Sadly, I'm beginning to prefer MMA more and more.

People mistake Khan's speed for skill.

If you actually look at him, he makes amateur mistakes.

Mma is my default if there is zero boxing on since Griffin v Bonnar 1 but they increasingly have some duds as well, or maybe its just seeing more of it. There number one poster child being groomed and hyped as some Tyson like arm bender only to be schooled and stopped by an former professional boxer will never get old for me.

Thought about it the other night listening to the Fox ufc card....nearly every announce during a match refers to a guy or gal "working on, improving or using solid boxing game", at times using boxing coaches in camp. How many times during a fight do you hear a boxer needing to work on mma skills mma will always be the red headed step child to professional boxing.
