Hey Ross we all know this belt was pulled out of the can , but how do you rate Martin ?
You think he has potential or just plain over rated ? Who do you think wins it ?
Jousha knocks Martin out in 2 rounds. Martin is there to be hit. No head movement. A right hand down the pipe = lights out. To me Martin looks like he just woke up in a cave after 20 years. Because he's an untested bum who just happened to get some fake fraud title belt and is willing to give it to Joshua for some cash. Martin is basically a guy who found a dollar in the street and bought a winning lottery ticket with it.
His high ranking is comical. He didn't beat Glazkov. If you boxrec the rest of his opponents, the highest ranked HW he has beaten is #95 HW who's 37-12.
Joshua was a 50 to 1 on favourite over undefeated Gary Cornish. Is Martin really that much better than him ? No he is not. I'm almost positive Cornish could have done the same given that glass-gov is a very tactical and cautious fighter. 7 to 1 on is a damn good price fighting a man who can't even keep his conditioning up.
Martin may not be experienced against tough opposition but his style would be something id have avoided in a big, big punching unbeaten young fighter. Southpaw and a patient counter puncher.
If it was a Tony Thompson (southpaw) id be more willing to risk that. Its a cliche that you hear all the time about southpaws but so many times its true. Some fighters just arent able to adapt and deal with them.
Hearn will be bricking it on the night.
Joshua got the win against Whyte but be honest, looked every bit Bruno on the way to it. Stiff, slow on his feet there was at least once he tried using upper body movement but did it so poorly he almost fell over! Lets no forget this was against Whyte who is not a boxer but a brawler and had trouble taking advantage of it.
Just because Martin hasnt faced anyone doesnt mean he cant do good things against good opponents. He does have power. He ko'd Joey Dawjeko and hes a tough and surprisingly skilled heavy. You all thought Tyson Fury was going to get blasted early against Wlad but like I said, what you had been seeing against lower level fighters I knew it would translate up. Martin isnt facing a Klitschko either.
I think if Martin comes in, in good shape his boxing could be too much for Joshua. Unless they are working very hard on lossening Joshua up in sparring I struggle to see him plowing through a big southpaw. I havent followed Martins career at all but his style is dangerous for someone still learning who you have invested big in.
Like Hearn said its a risk and its only because there is a title involved that they are taking it. Martin reckons they took a little while to come back so they had to think it through and although Martin would be a good opponent even if it wasnt for a title I dont think Hearn would have chosen him if no title was involved.
I think AJ wins but the fact that he will hold a title may mean he has little time to gain more experience which he needs.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

May the best man win , both are the untested really so it's going to be interesting to see who wins.
Yeah , you're right. I'd much prefer to pay £16.95 to watch Bellew v Cleverley at a weight that they're not even ranked in. And it wasn't even for a BRITISH TITLE!
You may not realise , but since Sky/Matchroom pulled that little stunt, anything goes I'm afraid, whether we like it or not.
For the record, I refused to pay for Wlad v Fury and I refuse to pay for this one. I will be paying for Quigg v Frampton though.
Winner has Joseph Parker vs Takam as mandatory? Haye must be kicking himself for sitting on the shelf so long.
