He was never the same after suffering the eye injury against Garcia. Think in every fight since you can hear the corner telling him his eye is fine, it clearly bothered him big time.
He might not have made millions but he seemed pretty content about raising his daughter and setting up his own gym.
What a puncher.
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
Have to hand to him and his compatriot Maidana for getting out when the getting was good, Maidana no doubt with the bigger account balance. I think the boxing establishment fell asleep at the wheel in not matching the two of them. They must have had a silent agreement.
Plus he'll make a killing on the exchange rate if he lives out the rest of his life in Argentina, outside buenos aires. After the provo fight, he made 500k for Postol. (1 USD = 14.5560 Argentinian Pesos). So lets say he walks away with about half after paying his promoter, trainer, etc etc. (Chances are it might be a little less) . 250k in usd would give him 3,639,000 Argentinian Pesos.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

It just seems he needs a long rest and needs to recoup his batteries to get his hunger back.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
I am a fan of Matthysse so when I recently read on this site how he feels, I was but at the same time was not surprised. Throughout the history of boxing in South America and other Latin Countries in passing, the boxers in Argentina boxed as macho fighters do as in the country of Panama like Mr. Hands of stone. The word champion does place a heavy burden on these smaller fighters. Mr. Monzon was a hard act to follow and Nicolino Loche and others and the list is not short would give fits to others who call themselves champions. Lucas belonged there but made a couple of classic mistakes. Tito fan mentioned Lucas had sick power in either hand and underrated boxing skills as per the example of Roberto Duran-Dejesus 2. Master says the guy needs to take time off. I agree! Sometimes relaxing and counting your blessings is a good way to restore your batteries and priorities. The man in a macho boxing setting forgot the name of the sport is boxing. I was reminded of the great Pernell Whitaker that speed creates longevity and supplies power when it is needed and MR. Hurtado found out, that man can hit. Lucas should remember that there was a man who did deal with speed until he met Ali, Sonny Liston. If one was to look at his old films Sonny Always used a text book approach and never took long unnecessary swings and never out of position. Too bad age didn't cut him a break or the urge to punch out cops. Lucas is in a good position right now because "Living well is great revenge." Should he come back, be calm and stay in your best stance and recover like Sonny. His jab should have been used more and exciting the crowd is OK but you have to watch your opponent and straighten your punches because it confuses the shit out of Guys like Garcia who think they know it all. If he decides not to come back enjoy you children they keep you sharp. Keep calm.
