one of the reasons discussion about a Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin fight has gone cold is because Alvarez is in a Miami courtroom this week with his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, who’s arguing that he didn’t steal Alvarez from a smaller promoter years ago.

I think if GB or Canelo brings up the Lawsuit as his reason for not taking GGG, it's total BS. Apparently they asked GGG to sign a waver so Canelo could fight someone else instead if the mandatory defense so my guess is GGG said no which is why Canelo vacated middleweight title. The Lawsuit has been going on since 2010 over Canelo's signing with ASB.

yanno when this thread was first made, I kinda held off agree because it seemed like jumping the gun. But i have to say frasd may have been on to something. Only reason i say that is that negotiations have supposedly been stalled out with GGG due to this lawsuit.. then Smith comes out and says he was offered the alvarez fight. So the lawsuit only stalled negotiations with one particular fighter? but everyone else is ok to negotiate with?
