In a cashless society I can see exactly why they would want to chip everyone.
No cash crimes.
No black market transactions on street level for illegal drugs.

I think if they ever do it, it would cause a rift and then groups increase into organised property theft and home invasions would go through the roof as would shipping piracy cargo and truck hijacking for goods instead of cash.

Would cause more problems than it would cure I think they would need army style policing.

A nightmare, literally.

But there would be even more financial crime in a cashless society. Sanctions and central banking would be even worse. It's a means for those fearful of the masses to maintain checks and controls. All other arguments are trivial considering cash has worked for thousands of years as a transactional tool. Mass inequality is the result of financial corruption. Going cashless just makes existing problems worse.
