You can't say "these fighters are embarrassing themselves," then when they take the big fight say "they only did it for the money."
The whole business is determined soley on filthy lucre.

I'm not having a pop at Brook for taking the fight for the money, thats why they are in the game after all
Its more about the 2 years before that whilst he was sitting on his belt when there were plenty of big fights to be made, hopefully after the GGG fight regardless of the outcome it'll spur him on to try and take some other big fights

I have to admit BJS has done nothing since he has won the title. At least make some easy voluntary defenses to keep busy and active. He has got fat and lazy.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
I dunno all the facts obviously, but I read saunders turned down Rosado because he has lost 4 of his last 6 and he wouldnt gain anything from the fight
lets hope saunders next fight is more meaningful than a massive fight in a huge venue on a massive bill against a very well respected and high profile fighter
strange thing is tho saunders would win every round against Rosado, and Rosado doesn't exactly hit very hard, its not like saunders would be in much danger
Officially the only saddo who has had a girlfriend

Don't want to make the thread about Brook (or need to defend him) but was there plenty of big fights to make? It takes two to tango. Ignoring that he got his leg chopped off, was blatantly swerved by Khan and faced two mandatories, remember he went to the states to beat Porter.
If those American fighters are not willing to come here - as long as the dosh is right - why should he be expected to travel?
Vargas was getting more than Brook to come here. That prick Brandon Rios was scared to come to the UK because he'll get robbed.

I believe Saunders had an injured wrist/hand part of the time, but that didn't keep him from taking on GGG, Canelo, etc etc.. (in interviews) The sanctioning bodies need to tighten the rules on belt holders, or at least on single belt holders and impose stricter limits on inactivity, negotiating windows, etc etc.
At this point any belt holder who has immediate mandatories waiting in line is able to stall out the sanctioning body by claiming he's in talks with another high profile fighter. The other fighter is being done a favor if he's not obligated to fighting someone already (by giving him an opportunity to stall-- if hes already obligated he can be sued for breach on contract) and doesn't raise a stink about it because these half hearted, pipe dream negotiations aren't really meant to set up the fight. Its just a background stalling method to keep the one belt champ lazy and comfortable, hide injuries, cycle out PED's and prolong their reign till a real big money superfight opportunity is being dropped in their lap.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

I only say they are doing it for the money when it's an obvious loss and they don't have much to lose. Brook will not beat GGG and when he loses, it doesn't hurt his reputation because he was supposed to lose being the smaller man.
Staying at welter and fighting a top fighter is better because it will be more competitive and you are taking a risk.
For example, if I get paid $1 million to fight wlad, I will take the money and nobody will care if I get knocked out really fast. Or I could take $100 to fight some girl who I think I might beat, but if I lose, everyone willake fun of me for the rest of my life. I would most likely sit and wait for a wlad fight. That's the attitude of many fighters now.

I'm giving Saunders the benefit of the doubt here. He's as aware as anybody that he's probably not the best ever middleweight champion and that there's a good chance of him losing when he fights one of the top lads so he's after maximising the money the belt will earn him. It's a short career, you're a long time retired etc etc. What would you do if you were him?
Array
i would capitalise on being Champion and actually fight and defend my title. Talk about "maximising his earnings", well surely you can only do that if you actually fight?
He's been champion a year and hasn't defended it. He pulled out of a defence with a "minor hand injury that he did while having a wank!", apart from that, nothing.
You don't fight, you don't earn!
