Sorry guys guess I'm getting off on the wrong foot here. Chacon was in a lot of terrific, exciting fights and I watched many of them live like vs. Cornelius Boza-Edwards, Ray Mancini and Alexis Arguello.... Anyway, journeyman was the wrong choice of words... I still ended my post w/ RIP champ, perhaps that's all I should have said.... Ciao!

Tremendous battler who had pain outside the ring to match some of his wars between the ropes. Save for one loss that was later avenged his losses were to the very best. Didn't realize the particulars on his wife and how long she tried to get him out of the sport before finally committing suicide. He fought the next day . Tragic the toll his ring years took on him, alone in a nursing home. Rest in peace champion!

In many of those battles I saw on network television whenever I saw other fighters pour their soul into a fight a piece of them was left in that ring especially against Chacon. He never, win, loss or draw failed to pick himself up whole and give all he had the next match even when we thought how does he recover from that. There he was again giving all he had and most importantly no matter what, he kept it all. All that strength and physical skill and of course courage and determination. There were a lot of Saturdays I was thankful for Wide World of Sports even when Howard Cosell was extra nasal.

The fight with Boza-Edwards, any of the fights with Bazooka Limon, but especially the fourth fight. He also fought Alexis Arguello and three fights with Ruben Olivares.
