I think if Ward had gotten better training early on he could have been and true contender and not a journeyman as it turned out. I think if Gatti and Ward were the same age Ward schools Gatti 2 out of 3. Ward was 7 years older for god sakes. I wish I could see that fight with both of them @ the age of 28. Ward brought a much needed breath of fresh air into the sport. Gatti and him were made for each other like no other fighters ever have been
Bowe and Holyfield
Here she is... To ruin the party. No Gatti Ward were f'in molds of greatness... Those were just good fights
Bowe and Holyfield.

Because they were both primed.

Gatti and Ward had a good trilogy but it consisted of this

A match with Gatti dominating early and getting rocked.. and then almost getting stopped in a round and then they talk about the round before the last in which they call it a slugfest when ut was more or less Gatti getting pummeled and then coming back with body shots at the end of the round. The second fight was a masterful boxing performance by Gatti which he dominated Ward. The third fight was Gatti dominating Ward with a broken hand and being knocked down.

I love that trilogy because it can show how great a shift in style is.

But imo the two fighters meant for each other is neither Bow Holyfield of Gatti and Ward

it was Corrales and Castillo.
