He has just signed for Match room very interesting times a head.!
Hes being employed as Joshua's bodyguard.
The first I heard of him was a couple of years ago Tyson Fury said in an interview that the only heavy he sees out there giving him trouble is Ortiz.
Watching his fights he's powerful for sure but he's not the quickest and can be lazy in fights if the opponent lays on him. Jennings got his attention a few times with shots.
Maybe he's a bit overhyped?
he could be, he was pretty impressive v the nigerian fellow, I forget his name and jennings in my opinion.. Nigerian light heavyweight isn't up to much though but I do think jennings is fairly good. I don't think we have seen enough of ortiz against good opponents to say for sure how good he is. I guess he beat up tony thompson too but thompson is really old now and well past his best(I always thought thompson was a very good journeyman). Hopefully ortiz really gets a move on as he is 37 now so time is running out for him..
I read takam is up next for him, same fellow who povetkin ko'd in style and gave parker a fairly close fight, I guess this is a good opponent to see how good ortiz can be but I was hoping for better.
oh, fredoom just posted in the heavyweight thread takam is not fighting ortiz next, that could be good.

Set to fight Malik Scott for the "Heavyweight Champion of Obscurity"
oh dear I think takam would have been a better choice.... :S... this look to me like a chance for him to beat up a guy that looks the part(aka black and athletic) but it is pretty much harmless. It will look good to casual fans though.. not a very interesting fight tohugh
Hearns plan is to have Ortiz as Joshua's protector.
I think Ortiz beats anyone without footwork.
Winky was a legend compared to ScottHey any fighter who wears a paper bag over his head for his last huge fight is assuming the embarrassing result or just admitting he doesn't belong there in the first place.
In Maliks case he's doing both and covering all the bases. Seems they are just showcasing Ortiz to a brand new audience here and feel good about a 65 yr old Thompson being able to knock him down.
