John Conteh told me that there will be a Smith's reunion this year.

Seriously, though, I can believe that Eubank's personal circumstances may make a comeback seem desirable. I suspect that this will be about money rather than glory and hope that he finds another way to make a few quid.

I think Eubank is too brave to be allowed to make a doomed comeback.

'Hell is the bell that will not ring again'

Eubank was a great fighter but he'd only embarrass himself if he made a comeback. He's been in wars over his boxing career and i wouldn't want to see him get hurt. After Michael Watson 2 Eubank held himself back in fights which is dangerous and i think by making a comeback he would be putting himself in serious danger. I'd sooner be Bankrupt and in good health and besides that i wouldn't take anything that Morrissey said seriously anyway.

I don't see how there would be too much of a problem, Eubank had a superb left jab and it would help keep him out of trouble with a washed up Jones Jr (Eubank might of lost all his quickness and reflexes by now, but would never of lost his jab). And I'm sure this is just a one-fight comeback.

Then why does Shavers not come back and clean up the heavyweight division?

After all he could never of lost that right hand power, and no one in the Heavyweights is half a RJJ.

The right type of an opponent for a guy like Eubank would be another older fighter with a mediocre record. That's what Tommy Hearns did. Eubank's basic talent should allow him to avoid any real calamity under such a circumstance.

If he's broke this is still the wrong way to scrounge up a few bucks. I think it's just a rumor. He might do better to show up at places and sign autographs!

I read in the papers that he was divorced and also bankrupt - does anyone know any more details about what happened and how.

I don't want to pry into the guys marriage, but I am interested in how he could be bankrupt only afew years after earning millions in the ring? His accountant should

    - have mustard spread onto his ears and be Iron Mike's next opponent.
    - be given a dress and made to share a cell with Ike Ikeabuchi
    - be put between two bread buns and given to George Foreman
    - have to run baby oil onto James Toney's man boobs

This is such a shame - whtever you think about the guy, he earned his money the hard way and never shirked from punishment in the ring. He deserves to have kept it.

    HaHa, Excellent.
Yeah, it is a shame that he is bankrupt. But he didn't really help himself with the manner of his expenditure and his Eccentricity. I don't like to delve into people's private lives myself but apparently his wife had become tired of his eccentric behaviour. One story tells of how he befriended a tramp and invited the man into his family home. He had met the tramp once and was amazed that the man never asked him for money and was so well spoken. When he later ran into this man again he decided to take him to his hotel and lavish gifts on him... such as new suits and shoes etc. He later bought the man an apartment and he travelled around with Eubank for months, in effect living of him!
The man later vanished and some time later he ended up in a mental institution claiming that he was a great friend of Eubank's.

Many boxers fall into the same trap, and Eubank did deserve to keep his money as, like you've stated, he certainly earned it!

Eubank bought a new pair of shoes every day, flew his hairdresser down from Manchester every week, etc.
