I think, as Hatton put it himself:
"with only 7 weeks notice, it was more like a fight between the light-welter champ and the welter champ"
Hatton didn't really have a game plan going into that and for all his 'taking him seriously' bluster beforehand..i dont think Hatton actually did.
Perhaps the narrow win for Ricky has brought him down to earth and possibly a blessing in disguise - a moment of fear before the results were read out must have jolted Hatton...it must have.
I think we'll perhaps see the best of Hatton over his next few fights - he'll not slip up again like that.
With regards Luis Collazo - he's a fighter that only fans want to see - as any boxers around him are probably thinking he's a big risk with little reward - a bogeyman.
I think perhaps Hatton made luis look slightly and i mean slightly, better than he is.
With hindsight, it was more a case of Hatton looking so beatable in that fight that shocked the mind, rather than Luis looking so amazing.
Collazo has fast hands and good skills which nobody can argue - like a bigger Malignaggi - but i dont see anything more than that.
Nonetheless, he is a league above some other fighters at Welter - far more worthy of a title challenge than Gatti - and even Zab Judah, right here and now.
I look forward to seeing Luis Collzo in action again real soon.
I for one will be keeping an eye out for the announcement.
