I think more than half of all holding is or becomes a mutual agreement as a fight goes. You can work out or capitalize, become a learned counter as you sure know where a guys hands are...and that the head is open. Start stepping on feet! Not big on yet another official put into place to count punches or holds. Refs just have to be the boss...take a page from the Jack Reiss book like Bike v Dirrell 2
"Come on man, what both of you guys are doing is shit"
I agree with you, it seems like the referees are too eager to jump in during a clinch. I know there is no other option in some fights but I like to see them work out of a clinch if they can.
I can understand why everybody hates the clinching, when it's excessive it's ruins a fight.
Refs need to start taking points away for timidity, I agree 100%.
It would decrease the amount of stinking fights we see and would be better for boxing.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Yes it was horrible. It's a sad state when clinches far surpass punches landed.
I understand fighters need to show defensive prowess as well, but there needs to be a certain level of offence expected as well.
We need to create and enforce rules that will protect the spirit of the sweet science. Guys who fight excessively timid and or/just to survive need to be penalized.
In the UFC if a guy is just laying on or hugging a guy without doing damage, they'll stand them up. If guys are fighting timid, they can be warned and have points taken away. I think boxing needs to look at doing that!
Marciano would fuck them up good--- @Master see what he did here when they tried to hold hahaha
@vidgil @ykdadamaja @palmerq @ross @SlimTrae @p4pking @superheavyrhun @Batman @Dia bando
If a guy is hugging you excessively, you should be allowed to mauy thai elbow him in the face.
It's perfectly legal to punch someone too. I've never understood one fighter blaming another for totally shutting down their offence because they were hugging etc. I wouldn't apply mandatory strike counts or such. They do that crap in karate
Fighters normally don't blame the other..... fans do. But each time I watch Wlad-Povetkin (I really don't), the more I think the least Povetkin should've been allowed to do is knee Wlad in the groin. That would've solved that problem. If the ref's gonna be MIA, he should be MIA for both fighters.
