if you want gloves to do both with, make sure they're 16oz because that's what most sparring is with.
yes, it is better to dedicate gloves for the bag and for sparring because of what Ty just said. Also, if you have nice gloves for sparring, like my Tuf-Wears

The bag will wear any glove down faster because you'll be hittng the hell out of them. Thus, I use $29 everlast 16oz training gloves (which could also be used for sparring--that's actually wha they're for) on the bag since they're cheapies and I don't care if they get beat to hell and need to be replaced.
One last thing..those gloves you're using on the bag, they're not really good for heavy bag work. There's no padding in them so you're gonna kill your wrists and knuckles. I don't even know why they make those things. people use them on speedbags but I prefer my free hands for speedbag work.
