Barrera and Morales-nearing the end of their careers

Pac-29 but takes a lot of punches and relies heavily on his speed and power, how long will his prime be, not sure

Hopkins and Toney-both coming to the end, or in Hopkins case maybe allready over

Winky- a lot of people don't like his style and he's getting older

Corrales and Castillo-both getting older and don't really have styles that are built to last

Hatton and Cotto- Cotto's 25 and should be around for a while, Hatton's 27 but doesn't have a style that's built to last and he doesn't take care of himself outside of the ring

Gatti-pretty much done, or at least should be

I'm sure I forgot some people but out of those PBF will be around for a while, oh forgot Taylor he'll be around, Cotto's young but its hard to say how long Barrera, Morales, Toney, Hopkins, Winky, Gatti, Corralles and Castillo will be around or be as effective. Its hard to tell with Pac and Hatton but they both are such physical fighters that they won't be as effective as a Winky, Toney, or Hopkins in their late 30's.

So who's next, out of the prospect group there's guys like the Petersons, Demetrius Hopkins, Mike Arnaoutis, Lucian Bute, watch out for James Kirkland-very exciting fighter, Amir Khan, Alan Green, Duddy, Quintana (maybe not a prospect anymore), Jean Pascal, Andre Ward. I'm sure I'm forgetting some, and I can't really think of a heavyweight prospect.

And then are guys who are young, not really prospects anymore, but not really elite or well known: Paul Williams, Miranda, Abraham, Ouma, Valero, Joan Guzman (might be top tier already but he's not really well known), Kessler, David Haye.

Like I said I know i'm forgetting a lot of guys, so who do you think is going to step up and become a "star", even if there not Oscar De La Hoya type stars.

F*** that was a long post.

imo paul williams, jermain taylor, and floyd mayweather are the future of boxing

pbf-147 supremecy
williams will dominate at 154. and jermain is gonna hold the mw division down for another 5-6 years at least

williams will be the 1st to go out when he takes on jermain at middle in about 3 years
I'd actually be pretty surprised if Jermain's still at middle in three years, its a more glamorous division than 168 or 175, but he's so freaking big, guy looks like he could handle 175 just fine.

i agree with you in saying that jermain COULD move up and handle the weight well, and in saying that the glory is in the middleweight division.
but if jermains smart, he stays at middle and dominates (a la hopkins )
thats what he needs to do, imo and if he does, weve got another legend in the making.

no doubt theres some great fighters in higher weight classes (calzaghe springs into mind) but the "glory" is at 160.
160 is the cutoff, imo.....................
great welters move up to 154, and usually dominate. but when they take the next step..........thats where the legends seem to come to an end.
on the other hand, there have been very few that have dominated 160 and moved up to supermiddle, lightweight, or even cruiser that havent faded into obscurity

if taylor stays at 160, thats where most of the mega star, huge payday welterweights eventually end up.
and when they get there, jermains gonna feast on them
