The same goes for Washington - he's not bad but an obvious ex-American football player that came to boxing late.

British fighters like AJ and Price were decorated amateurs before turning pro. Guys like Chisora and Fury made their name by steadily having success as they moved up in class - area, continental, commonwealth, British, European - before proving themselves at world level. Whyte was a nobody but hit the jackpot by beating AJ in the amateurs, then put his money where his mouth is and made a name for himself.

Wow. Respect your opinion but I'm amazed you can write that with such complete lack of self awareness. You just wrote out exactly the qualifying that someone(El Kabong? Primo?) said Brits would do but it seems like you think you're doing the opposite. Just WOW

So Price is good? Chisora? Whyte? My god man. They aren't and you suggesting they earned their status is exactly what was said.If Washington was a Brit.... Clearly you would form some crazy qualification to suggest he was good. You proved it in your post.

Nope... you didn't understand my post. I never made a judgement about whether or not the fighters I named were good or bad. That is purely subjective. But as you've brought the subject up - you don't believe Price, Chisora or Whyte are good? Compared with whom? I would say any professional that has a modicum of success is good, many a journeyman are good. Now comparing them with all-time greats (which you must be doing) they're not "good."

My post was specifically about hype, following and reputation. I explained that Washington - far from being "the next best thing" - was just as likely to fall into the first category of fighters I listed as the third group (Fury, Chisora, Whyte). As he's not a decorated Olympic medalist he wouldn't have had the hype AJ and Price got (they were widely known amateurs).

Hope I made it clear this time.
