I see people scratching their heads about why GGG-Jacobs isn't selling as well as Canelo-Chavez Jr... and it just makes me scratch my own head.

GGG is an established star and a pretty big draw in his own right, but Jacobs is largely unknown. Why? It isn't cause he's black, or any other nonsense like that. It's because he's not a loudmouth, obnoxious character like Mayweather. It's because he doesn't run his mouth and talks more than he does, like a Haye. Both of these are hugely popular.

GGG-Jacobs is a FAR more compelling and relevant fight than Canelo-Chavez Jr could ever be. But why the disparity in attention? Because Mexican stars have humongous followings that are immune to any shortcomings their heroes may have... and couldn't give less of a shit about a fight's relevance.

The thing is GGG has sold out arenas before against arguably lesser known opponents, with similar undercard matches. I don't think anyone thought GGG-Jacobs could match Canelo-Chavez in terms of sales. Maybe ticket prices have something to do with it?

GGG will be like Hagler and appreciated after he has retired. They will say what a beast he was who destroyed all within his path.

GGG has no trouble making the middleweight limit.

Which is why it always surprises me when people call for him to move up a weight for other fights, he's not boiling himself down to squeeze into the middleweights, it is his natural weight and he is comfortable there.

The only problem is that after this fight he's wiped out the division. All BJS and Eubank do is waste his time, they don't really want him, and at his age time is a luxury he can't afford. So he needs to step up after this and earn some big bucks.
And because he'll be giving away size and reach at SMW , people will buy into it because they'll feel it'll even things out.
The only stumbling block will be if the top SMW's avoid him like BJS and Eubank do.
