He didn't force him into it. Leonard said in an interview prior to the first Duran fight that he was going to fight him flat-footed. He was true to his word and he lost the fight. He then said, in a light-hearted moment, when interviewed by, I believe, the same person, that he would not be fighting him flat-footed.
