You know, none of this is very complicated and for a time after WW2 the West really seemed to be 'getting it'. It wasn't perfect, but a lot of progress was made. Most of it is really about the common sense things Corbyn advocates that were the norm in the post WW2 consensus years. Things like a free health care system, a redistributive taxation system, equality of opportunity meaning everyone has access to quality education, workers rights and greater job security. These are things that help stimulate and grow a country. Mental health illness is now an epidemic and it is because people are fed up and miserable. The trick has always been to deflect and divert. It's your fault. It's the immigrants fault. It's the nurses fault. It's the teachers fault. It's never the bankers. It's never the Tories.
The fact is that neo liberalism has failed. It resulted in finance being deregulated thus leading to bigger crashes and greater inequality. It resulted in health care being under funded and privatised. It resulted in the rich doubling their wealth with tax cuts while the poor saw increases in VAT and wages that have fallen over a decade. It has led to an education system where those with private schooling end up with all of the decent jobs. In all areas the system has broken or fallen and it is because the common sense policies that worked have been disgarded.
To cap it all you end up with people who FAILED in their jobs walking into jobs that pay a fortune despite them having no qualifications or experience. Hello Mr Osborne. This is the system of cronyism and nepotism. The trick is to pretend that the elections make a difference. That is why Corbyn is such a threat. This time it actually does make a difference.
