@Ron Swanson , will you have a word with this clown please! 😂😂😂
No matter what happens, there's potential for a Big-Four rivalry, a la Hagler, Hearns, Duran, and Leonard. Four of the best lb-4-lb boxers in the game today, at or close to their peak, who are within striking distance of each other in regards to weight. No they just have to fight each other.
I like his train of thought. I wish GGG would have taken the Ward fight and seen where things went from there. But I wish Floyd would have taken the Winky fight. And Crawford was at 47. And Lomachenko was taking a fight at 35 to get ready for Garcia and on and on and on. Win some, lose some. P4P isn't about being undefeated, it's about proving you are really f'n good.
If GGG goes up to 68 and dominates he deserves consideration for number 1.

They are pretty close in skill level. I think Kovalev hits a little harder p4p while I think GGG has a bit better of a jab. Kovalev and GGG have some problems with movement, but I think that Kovalev tends to deal with it about better. He closes the gap better IMO.
But to answer, ward is the best p4p fighter if he beats Kovalev because he has already proven that he belongs there. If canelo beats GGG then he proves that he deserves to be named a top 10 fighter, but will have abbot more to prove to be named the top fighter.
It doesn't really matter though because he won't win.

That's the way it is, not the way it ends
Kovalev becomes #1 if he wins. A GGG win over Canelo won't change that.
