I'll support him and cheer him on. I always thought he was a classy guys. You people know fuck all about boxing.
I don’t care who he fights to end his career but if it’s not against a solid opponent then he shouldn’t expect a big deal to be made.

I'd respect Cotto more jumping into the shark tank of 154..the division where he calls himself a champ? Should Trout pull it off it has to happen. Great career and tremendous battler but beating up on blown up welters rings hollow. Ali will be used to mop the floor here, much more devastating than Vargas did to him and Kamaegai will demand a rematch.

Yeah, if Ali got stopped by a light punching super-lightweight then you’d think he’d be stopped again here which would leave Cotto with a record of 42-5 with 34 KO’s and titled in four different weight divisions. He’s had a good career but it would’ve been nice to see him go out on a bigger fight. Even Brook, Khan and Margarito would be better than Ali despite their recent form.

    Give Cotto a break!

It is his last fight and it should be celebrated. Few fighters get to retire on their own terms.

I don’t think people are angry with Cotto, I think there just disappointed that he isn’t going out against a big name. I don’t think anyone really wanted to see him get beat up by Golovkin in his final fight. He’d easily handle Khan or Brook and those would have been bigger names and better fights for him to bow out with so I think it’s more disappointment than hate (could be wrong)

I bet you Brook may not have recovered yet and Khan wants an easier first fight to get back his career on track.

I was talking about this with a lad at work today, I don't have any problem with the fight, he could have took Khan he could have took Brook, whether he would have handled them easily is another question but they are good fighters and if he handles them easily then there will always be the question in Cottos head of 'how far can I push this' this is his swan song, he is bowing out, he is officially retiring, let him have an easy fight, the cunt deserves it, I believe him when he says he is done, finish on an exhibition and make a few quid.

    fair play to him

Beating Khan or Brook wouldn’t mean much and wouldn’t prove he was ready to make a run against the main men (Andrade, Charlo, Lara) Khan hasn’t fought in years and the last time he did fight he was savagely knocked out and Brook is coming off of back to back stoppage defeats (they’re not elite fighters)

Cotto has received far more breaks than majority of fighters who don't have a grand stage or gimme trinkets simply handed to them after 2 yrs absent. He's effectively been dictating own terms since losing to Trout with CW nonsense right down to team trying to take ol knobby knees Martinez braces ffs .

I wish him the best but as of today Ali isn't ranked in top 15 of wbo 154. Hell he's not even top 15 at wbo 147.

You have me in stitches! "Celebrate this great fighter, let him go out on his own terms." Yeah, are you gonna pay for that ? Would you PPV it? Nah, would you bollocks.
He still wants good dollar for a soft finale, who pays for that little luxury.
@powerpuncher hit the nail on the head. Fight who you want, but don't expect the big bucks because of what you USED TO BE.
I like Cotto, this isn't anything against him. But this is Boxing, people are there to hurt each other, if you don't want that , don't have a last fight, just retire. That's when tragedies happen. No such thing as an easy touch when people are trying to knock you out!

Yes there is. When you fight Conor McGregor.

When I quit a job, I go in for my last day of work knowing I'm not expected to do anything but hangout and have fun with my colleagues. It's a celebration, and we all have fun.

I think it's a disappointment that Cotto goes out on this kind of fight and not a bigger, more meaningful, or action packed fight.

I wish there was one more fight like Cotto-Torres for the fans, Cotto is a hell of a fighter and he'll be missed in the ring.
