Hagler v Mugabi! Also on undercard young bantamweight Richie Sandoval had previously knocked down and knocked out the superb champion Jeff Chandler to capture the wba belt but on this night in 1986 he would fight for the last time. Facing Gaby Canizalez, the brother of Orlando, Sandoval came in having to lose about 10 lbs and had not made the 118 weight limit in his last four fights. He would be dropped twice leading into the brutal 7th where he was dropped 3 more times. Each was nastier than the other and he would lay motionless and actually stop breathing for some time. Rushed out on a stretcher he would require emergency surgery and would thankfully make a complete recovery but forced to retire.

Magic fight Dokes at very best and gave Holyfield a great fight. He was in it until the 10th when Evander landed that left hook.

That was a put a guy on the map type fight for Holyfield. Awesome back and forth. Dokes did great earning what was an elimination shot after time off and his addiction demons getting ahold of him. Sadly though they returned. Top notch hand speed by Dokes too.

Holyfield earned his number 1 spot to fight Tyson with some hard and tough fights.

Dokes earned a shot against Bowe and was bombed out.

3-16-74: Roberto Duran KO win over Esteban de Jesus in Round 11 of the 2nd fight in their trilogy. This one was held in Panama City, Panama. Duran came back from a knockdown in the 1st round from a de Jesus left hook.

Watched this on ESPN years ago. Duran was seething, more than normals, because he got beat by Esteban de Jesus and lost his undefeated record and gets knock down again. Duran visited Esteban de Jesus in hospital when he was dying.
