    Default Nicolay Valuev

Nicolay Valuev is a nice guy, he's tall, he has decent hand speed but Jesus can he beat ANYONE good?

When your best victories are QUESTIONABLE decisions over John Ruiz and Larry Donald...how good are you??

Vitali straight up ripped Donald a new asshole

David Tua a guy who is almost 2 feet shorter than Valuev KO'd Ruiz in less than 20 seconds

ROY JONES JR. a LIGHTHEAVYWEIGHT beat Ruiz without losing a round!

So aside from being "a good guy" what can we expect from this freak? He doesn't step up his competition he's had more fights than Sam Peter yet Sam has fought and BEAT better competition than him.

Also as much as his size works for him I think once someone knocks him down (and considering his recent fights it'll happen SOONER than you think) he'll have a little trouble getting back up, A) because he's 7 feet tall and his knees will be shakey and B) He's over 300 pounds

Let's go ahead and post how he would do vs the top rated guys in the division

    Wladimir Klitschko (IBF)
    Sergei Lyahkovich (WBO)
    Oleg Maskaev (WBC)
    Calvin Brock
    Hasim Rahman
    Lamon Brewster
    Sam Peter

We'll start there and anyone you feel that needs to be considered just add them on there. Need I remind you Evander Holyfield was at the fight the other night....I honestly believe if he beats Fres Oquendo he'll be a challanger to Valuev.

I think Valuev is better than we initially thought he could be...Wlad would pummel him. Peter could very well get to him eventually. I like Brock and like to think he could outwork Valuev.

Against any of the others, I think we have competitive fights and Valuev could very well end up the victor...

Wladimir Klitschko (IBF) - Wlad by KO in the 6th...Valuev gets hit too much.
Sergei Lyahkovich (WBO)- Sergei by UD he's too active
Oleg Maskaev (WBC)- a good match up, I'm on the fence for this one
Calvin Brock - Brock by KO....he can hit people who stand infront of him
Hasim Rahman - Valuev by UD
Lamon Brewster - Lamon by UD or TKO
Sam Peter - Sam by KO

I agree but I'm confused about Rahman getting beat to a UD...
U Maskaev has a shot but Rahman loses by UD? Rahman is a busyer fighter and Maskaev and Valuevs workrate is about the same... I think Rahman would win on points and Maskaev and Valuev would prob be a friggin draw...lol... But as far as the others... I totally agree

The thing with Maskaev is he likes to brawl...Rahman has the size and power to be the MAN in the division but he doesn't have the talent. He likes to brawl but it's not condusive to his skill level. He has probably the biggest reach in the division and he doesn't use his jab, he can take a decent shot but he'll take 5-10 when he shouldn't have to.

Rahman could just use a good 1-2 and still have the WBC belt but he wants to brawl and it's a pity...he's this era's Frank Bruno or Razor Rudduck

Hasim Rahman Jr. is being trained by Manny Steward, that's GREAT for boxing and for Jr., I hope he does very well

As I have said before...I like Valuev because he generates curiousity & much needed casual viewers for the sport.

I'm neither ready to put on a life vest or take up position to set sail...but he did well against Barrett...actually better than I thought.

Valuev can box...& I just aint ready to right him off yet.

    I'll give him a shot.

Barrett had not fought in a year Wacko....and yet you are impressed which befuddles me. Monte can't hit, he is lazy in the ring, but he has heart and he still wobbled Lil Nikky.

Valuev is AVERAGE...if he wasn't so big he wouldn't be anywhere right now.

Wacko you have the right to like the guy but he just doesn't impress me other than he's big....oooooh he is tall WOWIE ZOWIE....so is Julius Long!

I agree that his best asset is his size. His skill level is average, his chin is decent, and his power is ok. He's got a shot against everyone cause he's so damn big. You can't really predict how much he will wear someone down, and how akward fighting him will be.

Wlad would dominate, Peter would catch him eventually. Everyone else it would be competetive. I also think Brewster would catch him. The giant doesn't have enough pop to keep Peter and Brewster off him. Sergei is hard to call, he showed alot against Brewster..... I have to go with Sergei....

He has the potential IMO....I was impressed by his stamina and his Hand speed I think he is one of those fighters that has the talent and size on any given night to present a problem to any of those guys....

BUt he's sooo easy to hit and the hardest puncher he's been in with is JOHN RUIZ!!!!

And in that fight VALUEV initiated the clinches, VALUEV, was the one slowing the pace.

Have people not seen him get NAILED with right hands from: Tisdale, Barrett, Bidenko, etc Monte had him pretty hurt I think....his knees buckled a bit.

Sure he'll try to bully people with his size but what happens if they are too athletic for that strategy? His punches don't do SHIT.

I think he can go somewhere in this division considering its a pretty weak division. I think he can take Oleg and Rahman. Lamons a little small and i think it'd be a little hard for him to get any punches up there with any leverage. Wladamir would win, he's a very skilled big man. Peter and Brock have been getting better but are still iffy fights for both and I havent seen Lyakhovich fight.
