Default Arturo Gatti vs. Brandon Rios @ 140.

2 aggressive fighters with power and granite chins. I predict it would be an absolute war.

    Who you got?

It would be very close if Gatti decided to not box and just brawl. Basically like the first Ward fight. If he decided to box, it would be like the 2nd and 3rd Ward fights to where Gatti pretty easily won.

    Fun fight.

Something I’ve always seen a bit differently.... I don’t think Gatti has a granite chin, he was hurt all the time. I would say he had a granite will. It didn’t matter he was hurt, in fact he became more dangerous

Agreed. Gatti didn’t have the best chin, but he definitely had the most heart.

Rios will never have the commitment and boxing options Gatti had. Even at 135 can see Gatti power boxing his ears on his best night. Gatti was a much sharper puncher from all directions compared.

Gatti out boxes Rio's, gets hurt and on the verge of being stopped lands a huge left hook and knocks out Brandon.

    Everyone cheers

Gatti would have weighed like 180 by fight night, he would have squashed R-r-r-r-rios.

Rios vs Acelino Freitas may have been worthwhile......Rios vs Chico Corrales would have been good. Zab Judah vs Rios would have been ok

Id take Rios, probably a late stoppage, cuts likely. He had the output and better chin, which I think would count for the most given the type of fight it would be. Gatti had more skill, but not by enough to keep Rios off of him imo. He was fun, but anyone who thinks he was seriously top class at 140 is overrating him.

I have to think Gatti wins this if he boxes. I think Gatti is too savvy for Rios even in an inside battle.

Goes for Rios though who basically rose and fell over 2 years against far less than Gatti career wise. Alvarado looked like he went thru a windshield and had enough to hurt Rios multiple times and outbox him surprising people who thought he couldn't box it second time. The mental make up gap also massive. Just see Rios early playing the physical but Gatti beating him to punch.
