Elvis was a bit of a racist too. He would apparently have hated his daughter marrying a black man. Everyone has probably told a politically incorrect joke or said something inappropriate, but that is the nature of being human. You say and do daft things, but as long as you are not actually hurting anyone it shouldn't matter.

Roseanne made a comment that can be interpreted as racist, but you have to interpret it that way to view it as such and unless you can prove the intent, then I think it is a lot of hoo ha about nothing all that important in the grand scheme of things.

Looking at the woman Roseanne mentioned, she does look a bit like Bonham Carter made up as a chimp. Is that racist? As far as I know she is a white English actress. Was she racist too for dressing up as a chimp? I really have no idea and I don't really care. Some people really do look like monkeys. I have often thought the same about the tennis player Nadal. I've nothing against him and he seems like a lovely chap. Same goes with Karl Pilkington.

I certainly don't think it is worth destroying an entire show over. An apology is just never enough anymore for the outrage society. Personally I think Roseanne said something that was rude, but people say rude things all the time.

I have been compared to Pinocchio. You could take offense at every single caricature or comparison, but what is the point? My landlord looks like a puffer fish. It's not something to be crying about. Trump is constantly mocked for his orangeness and I have done that too. It's not a big deal to ordinary people. It's a hue and cry on Twitter and within the establishment. I am sure most sensible people would sooner have the show continue and for people to quit being such snowflakes. I don't see DeNiro being blacklisted because he said he would like to punch Trump in the face. That is much worse than a jokey reference to someone looking vaguely like a character from a film.

I am saying that we ignore actual threats of violence which have no consequences and that we have many examples of people being compared to animals or having negative aspects of their appearance pointed out. I am saying that it is extreme to cancel a show over a wayward joke. It's a bad joke in bad taste, but you seem like the kind of man that would ban Derek and Clive.
