World Cup 2018 countdown!!!!

Me and the Mrs have a whole rack of England shirts but have totally lost touch with the Premiership being so over run with imports. I will watch the team that represents the city I was born in but have no interest in teams that have screwed over their own supporters. I have no idea who half the players are, in fact maybe actually none for the first time and Blatter, Qatar etc just makes a mockery of the whole fricking thing. I still have my England 5 Germany 1 mug but it has faded so much it is virtually unreadable and that kind of sums up my feeling for this tournament. The Mrs and grand kids will fill in the fixture pullout poster, we will stick the flags up and i will watch and try and get behind them but I can't help feeling cynical after so many years of it.


Then we will meet Portugal or Germany and some diva will feign injury to have a penalty awarded against us and i will jump out of my seat and scream loads of xenophobic rubbish at the TV and run out of the house/pub and into the street and embarrass the whole family by screaming 'Fucking yes.. have it' if our keeper saves it.

Miles we get it. You hate football, despise the English, don't understand why Germany going out of the world cup means anything and begrudge even the massive underdog that is South Korea who gave you a home, a career, a wife and a second chance celebrating knocking out the world cup holders.

We have to keep winning. An easier draw just postpones the inevitable surely? If we want to win it we will have to beat the likes of Brazil and meeting them earlier is probably better sooner than later. It's also better to go out on our shield than get stuffed by some relative minnow.

So Belgium's B team are better than our B team.

That may work out for us if we are able to beat Colombia, Switzerland/Denmark and get into the semi final of the world cup.

I don't know what to think after that. At least we played to win even if we did not play with a winning team. If that makes sense. Hard like you say to judge a team when the majority of those who played tonight will be on the bench for much of however long we have left at the tournament. Switzerland look like the trickiest of those three and they should not even be here with their handball against Ireland. Can be dirty bastards too but hopefully VAR will nullify that. Bring on Columbia if they play like they have so far.

Yes, both Belgium and England played with a lot of subs, trying to save their stars from injury in a meaningless game.

Yes, both teams of subs played to win. It was still a competitive match.

Yes, England now goes to the arguably weaker side of the bracket, and faces Colombia, which played poorly today and may have lost James Rodriguez.
