Munguia has been talking unification, so I hope that's the path he takes. This will be a pasting.

Canelo's ban should now have ended right?

Yes, which is why he is due to fight Triple G.

Canelo is going to try to strike fast like a cobra. He will definitely be making his move by the 2nd or the third round.

Do you know what date it ended? The fight has been scheduled for months, but he was still banned. Just wanted to know the date it ended.

It's six months from February the 17th so I think it ended about a week ago.

Thanks buddy. I knew it ended in August but wasn't sure exactly when.

I heard he ate a tainted burrito at midnight last Saturday. So he was still within the six months

Love to see unification and 154 is pretty deep to me. I'm banking on Charlo v Hurd to hook up first with promotion. Style wise Hurd and Munguia could be held in a walk in closet and be pretty brutal. Be interesting to see where he goes after this.

Classic. All those advantages, wraps, weight, beef, judges etc and he still couldn't win.

    Canelo really is a prick

This fight has become personal,” Alvarez said in a blog post released by HBO. “I will use this in my favor—obviously with intelligence—for this battle. The cordiality that we had, not in the ring but outside of it, has ended because of many things. Because of the many times they opened their mouth. … I know they are bothered, but I don’t know why since it is I who has made them gain so much [money]. They say they don’t worry about that. They say they don’t fight about that, but that’s the first thing they fight about—the money, the purse. There’s nothing else they care about more. It’s hypocritical for them to say otherwise.”

On an objective level, it’s hard to disagree with the notion that fighting Alvarez was a huge boon for Golovkin’s wallet.

Before Golovkin made upward of $20 million for their clash last year (Alvarez reportedly pulled in about $50 million) Golovkin’s previous purses were $2 million vs. David Lemieux, $2 million vs. Dominic Wade, somewhere between $3 million-$5 million vs. Kell Brook, and $2.5 million vs. Daniel Jacobs. Plus, after Alvarez had to bail on the original rematch date because of his failed drug tests and subsequent suspension and Golovkin fought Vanes Martirosyan, Golovkin earned $1 million.

But in his own blog this week, Golovkin said he isn’t impressed by Alvarez, writing he’s actually not a special fighter.

“Canelo is my most important fight because he is my next fight,” Golovkin said. “That is the only thing that makes Canelo special. There was nothing special about him in the first fight. He did not fight Mexican Style like he promised. Over the last twelve months, Canelo has showed everyone his true self.”

With only 14 days to go before their fight, the narrowing betting odds have stabilized in the past two weeks. As of Friday afternoon, Golovkin was -160, meaning you’d have to bet $160 to win $100. Alvarez, meanwhile, is +130, which means you’d earn $130 with a $100 wager.
