Now I'm not likely to visit Scotland to hunt for anything other than Scotch, but wild animals TYPICALLY don't just let you saunter on over to them whether you're petting them or hunting them.

Big horn sheep are hunted out west in the US and that's OK. I'm not sure what these animals in Scotland are like.

Hunting CAN be fun you're out in nature, you are away from everything, just you and the wilderness.

Now MY own personal goal in regards to hunting is to be able to never buy from a factory farm ever again. I want good, healthy, happy meat. Now not everyone kills for meat, I personally think that's a waste, that meat should go to use even if you just donate it.

An American TV host who sparked anger after shooting a wild goat on Islay has criticised "ignorant people" who sent her death threats on social media.

Larysa Switlyk, who presents the Larysa Unleashed programme, posted pictures of herself posing with the dead goat on a hunting trip to the Scottish island.

The hunt was legal - but sparked outrage on social media.

The thousands of replies sent to Ms Switlyk included some calling for her to be killed.

Ms Switlyk is understood to have been in Scotland a month ago, but only posted the pictures of the dead goat on Tuesday.

Previous posts showed her posing next to a dead sheep on Islay, and a dead stag that was shot in Ardnamurchan.

In an Instagram and Twitter post on Thursday, she remained unrepentant despite the anger over her hunt - which led the Scottish government to say it was examining whether the law needs to be changed.

Ms Switlyk posted a picture of a seaplane alongside a caption saying she was heading off on her "next hunting adventure".

She said: "My ride has arrived - I'm headed out on a bush plane for my next hunting adventure and will be out of service for 2 weeks.

"Nothing better than disconnecting from this social media-driven world and connecting back with nature.

"Hopefully that will give enough time for all the ignorant people out there sending me death threats to get educated on hunting and conservation. FYI, I was in Scotland over a month ago..."

Several tourism companies offer the chance to stalk and shoot wild goats in Islay, Dumfries and Galloway and other parts of the UK.

The animals, which have no natural predator, are classed as an invasive, non-native species in the UK, and hunting them on private land is not illegal.

There are thought to be more than 3,000 of the animals living in herds across the UK.

Controversial culls have been carried out in some areas to reduce their numbers, while contraceptive darts have also been used to stop the animals reproducing.

In the tweet which sparked the furore, the presenter - who is described on her website as a hardcore huntress - wrote: "Beautiful wild goat here on the Island of Islay in Scotland. Such a fun hunt!! They live on the edge of the cliffs of the island and know how to hide well.

"Made a perfect 200 yard shot and dropped him (Good thing too because he could have ran off the cliff into the water)."

The Scottish government's Brexit secretary, Mike Russell, told BBC Scotland on Wednesday that the posts were "horrific", and called for the hunting of goats on Islay to be stopped immediately.

Mr Russell. the MSP for the island, also insisted Ms Switlyk's goat hunting was worse than the hunting of red deer, which he said was "very firmly regulated" and "you don't see people glorifying in it very often."

About 30,000 deer are shot every year on public land on Scotland - the vast majority by wildlife rangers and contractors and about 3,500 by "recreational stalkers" - with many more being shot on private estates.

Personally i dont see the point of hunting for fun , everything should be respected and only killed for the table.

It ain't my bag either to hunt for nothing.....I want clean, healthy food to put on the table, and I want the populations of the animals I hunt to remain at healthy levels and healthy sizes.

That said, I'm not going to pretend hunting isn't fun. It's work and it's difficult depending on what you're hunting and where but it's a good feeling. Humans have that urge to hunt in them innately, we've had it for far longer than we haven't, but hunting scratches an itch that many probably don't even know they have. I've dealt with anxiety before, too much nervous energy, bouts of depression here and there, but getting away from all the technology (lol, suuuuure guy with all these posts) but YES getting away from all that and getting into nature gave me the opposite feel, and hunting even more so and it's not about killing out of malice or hate or frustration or anger, it's about the focus, about the feeling you've provided food for your family, and at the end of the day you're thankful for that deer or turkey or dove or whatever, you're full of appreciation for what life is and what nature is and you want MORE nature....not just to hunt, but to observe, to live in, to take a breath, to hike through it's wonderful.

But hell that's just me and what I get from it.

This shit really makes me sad. Wild cats are the most awesome of creatures

The African lion (Panthera leo leo) faces the threat of extinction by the year 2050, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service director Dan Ashe warned today. The sobering news came as part of the agency's announcement that it has officially proposed that African lions receive much-needed protection under the Endangered Species Act.
The decision to list the big cats as threatened—one level below endangered—would allow the U.S. government to provide some level of training and assistance for on-the-ground conservation efforts and restrict the sale of lion parts or hunting trophies into the country or across state lines.
The total population of lions in Africa is currently estimated at about 34,000 animals, down by at least 50 percent from three decades ago. Those numbers, however, tell only part of the story. As Ashe pointed out during a press conference today, about 70 percent of the remaining lions—24,000 cats—live in just 10 "stronghold" regions in southern and eastern Africa. Lions in other regions, such as West Africa, have been almost completely wiped out.
FWS identified three main threats currently facing lions: habitat loss, loss of their prey base to the bushmeat trade, and human-lion conflict. All three threats are inexorably linked. The human population of sub-Saharan Africa is expected to double by the year 2050, which will result in more conversion of habitat to agriculture, more hunting of the wild ungulates the lions depend upon for prey, and more instances of hungry lions attacking livestock and then being killed in retaliation. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), retaliatory or preemptive attacks against lions are the worst threats the species faces. The IUCN lists African lions as a whole as vulnerable to extinction.

If you don't eat it don't kill it. Otherwise you're probably a meek twat with a little man complex. Pose with forced smiles with your significant other or co workers, not dead giraffes and chimpanzees.

Sick to let such animals be unappreciated, over populate, become nuisance animals. Sick to contribute to factory farms, sick to eat food loaded with steroids and antibiotics, sick to eat food that comes from abused poorly nourished animals.

    You are what you eat.

I was driving down the street yesterday and saw my friend putting an elk head, antlers and all. Turns out he had filled his tag, a nice bull elk, and was at his father's house dressing it out.

Remember most Highland estates have deer heards which need culling.
A few of my friends go deer stalking they pay it helps the local economy remember lovely countryside don't pay the bill .!
My good friends are farmers and also operate a slaughter house you eat meat you can't be a Hippocratic simple.
Tut tut wild food we are not on about endangered animals here I have eat venison rabbit hare wild duck game birds etc.
I have fished river and sea eat plenty of fish also collect plenty of shell fish.
I have collected wild fruits and nuts and mushrooms.
So when some daft git has a opinion on something they no nothing about I laugh .
The internet is full righteous Eric's who are enraged about what someone has said or a picture of a dead goat or deer causing mass outrage.

This is not Sport Hunting it is cowardice

Foxes, crows and birds of prey are being killed so grouse are kept alive for the hunters’ guns
