The Philippines are a massively traditional Catholic country, so it's not entirely surprising that a rags to riches Filipino might have those views. I certainly don't see any reason to condemn the guy for having some beliefs, whether I agree with them or not.

Despite what people may think about Pacquiaio's political or ethical views, or indeed what he may or may not be like as a human being .... the guy is a bona fide boxing legend, who has myriad all time great accomplishments in the ring.

Broner, meanwhile, is a story of wasted talent and lack of discipline. Numerous sexual assault changes, all sorts of nasty videos on the internet and a catalogue of unpleasant crimes and convictions.

He tried to be a Floyd Mayweather type 'heel' but never had the talent in the ring to get away with it or to generate any noticeable public interest. He is a bit like Zab Judah in that e had loads of talent, but simply never made much attempt to maximise it.

Sure, Pacquiaio is well and truly on the slide and, sadly, seems to be pretty broke .... but I still hope ha has too much for Broner.
Yeah, it’s just beliefs. Except when the Catholic Church celebrated, supported, and helped carry out the holocaust, just beliefs. Or the Sudan, or Serbia, or now in Africa teaching people not to use condoms telling them they have microscopic holes in them to transmit HIV. Teaching people to get HIV and to die by the millions.. (I’ve personally witnessed this countless times working for doctors without boarders for years) Name a time they weren’t committing genocide and I will tell you the genocide you aren’t aware of apparently. But it’s okay, 50 years after each they will apologize. Or it’s okay because it’s just beliefs.

This post will probably be taken down because it’s rude to question religion but it’s okay to kill by the millions for beliefs. That’s not rude. Beliefs have more value than life and more protection than life.
Pacquiao isn’t some head of a conspiracy though. He is just a puppet. I doubt that Pacquiao is just this evil guy trying to act nice. He just seems like a product of his culture. Just like in most cases, the problem is with the leaders who control the sheep below them because they aren’t smart enough to think for themselves.

And the idea he was ever humble is a gross lie. Dude would sit in a room of yes men having one rub his back while he played horrible guitar and sang horrible songs as they watched his horrible TV shows. It’s not hard to find videos of this exact scenario. That is as far from humble as you can get. And all his excuses and lies...not humble.

Floyd and PAC both need to go away and stay away.

I don’t know anything about the Philippines, aside from all the people I’ve met where I live from there are great. I know it’s the main board, but why is he so horrific? I’m sure you’re right, just at work and don’t feel like reading up on his political career.
It’s hard to keep up with all of it. Basically he gets his politics from the Bible so, we’ll, you’ve read the Bible, it’s a horror show. But his support of their President is disgusting. They are literally murdering suspects in crimes by policy. Suspects, not convicted people. By the thousands

With all due respect to X that is such a bullshit post. It's the boxing board so will not dwell to long but the fact is thousands of people have been murdered in the Philippines and Manny has publicly backed it. He is in a position of great privilege and power and rather than speak out he has allied himself to Duerte and claimed the president was anointed by God to discipline the Filipino people. So nobody is claiming that his views on homosexuality or abortion are illegal. The tired and lame ' snowflake millenial liberal west ' thing is a huge misnomer here. Ron whatever you think about him is a respected trainer, not a millenial and having done the relief work he has, hardly needs to be lectured about patronizing non-western countries. Both my kids are millennials but half the stuff atribute to their generation is an anethema to them and most of their friends.

I hope Manny sparks Broner out because Broner is a punk who had he knuckled down could have done much more and Manny like you say inside the ring is a bona fide legend. He is though absolute fair game for criticism when even after admitting using several different drugs as a youngster he invokes God as an excuse to murder people without trial.

I like Manny as a person. Do I mind or care whether he's Catholic? Hell no. Do I hate him due to his support of a candidate we may all have our misgivings about? No. Of all of us, only Manny was born and raised in the Philippines and only Manny has been aware of the conditions in the Philippines for the past few decades. I don't pretend to put myself in another man's shoes, especially when I'm not privy to the conditions he was born and raised in. At least the man has had the interest and initiative to put himself into politics. He's trying to better the way of life of his people. Is he backing the wrong man? Maybe. That doesn't make me hate Manny. All I've ever seen and heard is a well-spoken, humble young man who loves his people and wants to improve life in his country. I'll leave the specifics to the professional politicians.
