He’s 20 years old and has never fought above 126 in his own sport, which certainly isn’t boxing. Davis also won’t make anywhere near what Floyd did, you’d have to think less than he would for just a credible fight in his own sport and country. Maybe this Tenshin guy isn’t actually interested in fighting for a living and everyone involved just wants a chunk of cash for showing up

If it actually happens, which I'm not quite convinced it will, it's mishandling of the Japanese kid as you said. But it's also a black eye for boxing, because Gervonta is one of boxing's brightest rising stars. He just demolished Hugo Ruiz in impressive fashion and who cares if people start avoiding him.... he can't be avoided forever. We don't need these sideshows that all they do is waste precious time. I place the blame squarely on Floyd's shoulders, who again, if the fight actually happens, should be questioned as to his motives. Surely it's not money. He hasn't had enough time to squander away his millions. If he truly wants to promote, go for it. But don't drag a young, rising star to the same circus you apparently enjoy after having wrapped up your career. Just as puzzling that Gervonta would actually go along with it. Maybe in a strange kind of twisted logic way, Floyd wants to "legitimize" his own circus fights by having a current star follow his footsteps (??).
