World could use fewer cunts too but doubt we'll see any big stars donate to the cause. Not familiar with the recent hubbub over there and this woman but the first thing I thought of was when Sally Struthers was all over the TV raising money for Ethiopian children in the 80's. Many of these 'stars' or elites or whatever may have good intent but it rings hollow when she was walking around a village in hundred dollar sun glasses and designer pants suit and boots surrounded by bloated little kids covered in flies. Not to mention the corruption of donated goods and funds in some instances that wind up in the hands of war lords and despots. We learned first hand what hell shitty farmers could unleash when the U.S went from 'Live Aid' movements in the 80's to trying to protect food shipments for starving Somalians in the early 90's..let it turn to military ops and then watched U.N troops and Rangers end up getting shot to shit in a way we had never seen on live television. If celebs want to act an ass and anoint themselves thats all fine but many times the cameras outshine the cause. Some have genuine intent and know how to step out of the lime light. But Africa is stronger than given credit for all things, history considered and no thanks to many a Nation waltzing in like saviors and /or conquerors and screwing them over.

Ironic how lammy lives in a white first world nation but he is ok for us to give money to Africa but we need a black cheeerleader.
If he feels black and white are equal why does he have a problem ?
    Sounds pretty racist to me.

Lammy was born here, he is English. The fact that so many people can't, or simply refuse to see what the problem is, demonstrates what the problem is. Comic relief themselves have repeatedly lied to maintain the simplistic narrative you and many others here subscribe to. Comic Relief claim they asked him to work for them an he did not reply. He did, and dont forget you suggested 'sending him back' to a Continent he has never lived on as you read it.-

The MP said the claim that he had “not responded” to outreach from Comic Relief was untrue, clarifying that he had two meetings with charity representatives but declined offers to make a film in Africa because he does not live there.

He said: “Flying me, a British politician, out to speak for citizens of a continent I have never lived on is more of the same patronising fluff.

“Please invite an African filmmaker, celebrity, farmer, teacher or businessperson to make a film in my place.”

Comic Relief later clarified that two meetings with Mr Lammy had happened.

    A distorted image

Mr Lammy explained: “My problem with British celebrities being flown out by Comic Relief to make these films is that it sends a distorted image of Africa which perpetuates an old idea from the colonial era.

“Comic Relief has a huge platform and privilege and it is the first and major way children learn about Africa.

“If they only show Africans as helpless victims to be pitied, children miss the broader picture of huge progress in Africa.”

Labour MP David Lammy [Getty Images
He continued: “Comic Relief should be helping to establish an image of African people as equals to be respected rather than helpless victims to be pitied. It would therefore be better for people who actually live there to speak about the continent they know.
“Many black Brits feel deeply uncomfortable with Comic Relief’s poverty porn. It’s my job to represent their views however uncomfortable. They want their children to have rounded views about Africa and these types of campaign woefully fail to do that.”

In 2018, Comic Relief had said it would halt the use of celebrities in “poverty tourism” appeals, saying the charity had taken its “first steps” towards change

Another example of the worlds steady decline into madness.

Let's find a problem for the sake of finding a problem. Only just read about this this morning and personally couldn't give a fuck either way but I'm guessing this will now make celebrities think twice about doing it and i have no doubt this kind of shit will now stop people donating.

Always someone offended in these crazy times....

I listened to the MP and he sounds a bit deranged. Why would black British people be offended on the behalf of another country based upon ethnicity? At the end of the day Britain is a majority white country and inevitably white people will represent it more than others. Charity is helping others. Who cares what race is helping or branding the thing? It would be weird to have a black person giving me a handout here. Just common sense it would be someone who looks like others in the society. It's really not hurting anyone. Some African countries do great and others less so. Cuba helped Africa a lot. Did they object to the white Cubans? Silly.

Interesting update here. Dooley asking to hold a little lad already in one of his own relatives arms.

I don't actually care to be honest its just another example of double standards, as for Lammy I couldn't care less about anything he says.
The world has gone mad that is a fact, as for comic relief its utter bullshit anyway and I have never nor never will give them the steam off my piss.
The Instagram generation are a load of narcissistic plum kissers and will stoop to what ever depths to feather their own nests.
No doubt if what Lammy said was reversed it would have been outrageous and racist.
Fuck Lammy and Comic relief , leave the Africans to themselves , they are doing a fine job on their own.

All help should be welcome. Lammy's worried about stereotyping, when he should actually be worried about how aid money is handled in Africa. There's also bigger fish to fry in terms of money coming into Africa. It stands to reason that most of what African nations need is in terms of infrastructure upgrades, the backbone of any developing country. Right now most of this money is coming from China in the form of loans. Suspicious minds in the U.S. see this as some sort of threat to U.S. national security, and probably China wouldn't be investing so heavily in Africa without some sort of ulterior motive. If the U.S. government sees this as some sort of threat, maybe they should offer some sort of help also. But back to the Lammy/Dooley sideshow. People will interpret Dooley's involvement however they want to interpret it. I don't think a few pictures and videos of Dooley holding an African child will change anyone's mind about anything they're not already thinking.
