How about Calzaghe, should he let Hopkins have ALL the money and he fight for NOTHING? Using your logic, I guess he should of, a Gus, at least we would of had a fight.

And yet you still haven't answered my question. Would the fight had come off if Warren said yes. Yes or no?

Funny, I don't see any headlines that Beyer or Eric Lucas ducked Calzaghe

Good. Maybe you'll see why Hopkins ducked him.

I didn't see anything special. He's inconsistant and didnt even look half as good as Lacy made him look. I told you I would watch on Saturday to really get a good look at Calzaghe and he looked like a Hamed wannabe until he got popped in the face and made to bleed. If thats Calzaghe then I don't know what the big deal was. He didn't look half as good as Lacy made him look.
You shouldn't judge a fighter by one performance Gus. Would you class the Roy Jones that got hammered by Tarver and Johnson anything special? In all of Roys great performances was it the opposition fighting poor fights, or having "off" nights, that made him look so special, or was it because Jones has special talent?
Roy was out of his prime. Calzaghe is supposed to be IN HIS. Can you name me 2 Roy Jones fights he looked bad in where you'd say "This guy can beat him" in his prime?
Well Gus as you've ducked (
) all my questions, I'm glad you've finally seen the light about Hopkins and Joe. Good for you.

Come on Gus I couldn't of made it any easier for you to understand. (cant believe i'm giving a reply on this
)
It's IMPOSSIBLE to know whether the fight would of happend had they agreed to double his purse

Me neither but...Hope this helps
Jay Larkin 2003 - Eric Lucas is one of those fighters who has priced himself out of the market. We would like very much for Eric Lucas to fight Joe Calzaghe, but the amount of money they have asked for is simply unrealistic. You don’t go from being a US$30,000, US$40,000, US$50,000 ESPN fighter to US$1.5million to fight Joe Calzaghe. It just doesn’t make any sense by anybody’s reckoning. We have come to table several times to try to make that deal and every time it has fallen apart.
There's more
The problem is that we simply can’t find anybody at 168lbs that is either willing to fight Joe or available to fight Joe. It’s a very frustrating situation for us. We have had many offers out to many fighters and either they have made themselves unavailable or they have priced themselves out of the market. It is very disappointing. Joe has not turned down a single fight that we have put in front of him and neither has Frank Warren his promoter. But every time it comes down to the negotiations the guy that we are interested in, the guys that will make a difference either price themselves out of the market or they pull out of the fight.

Why are you comparing Roy with Joe? I was just giving you an example of how you shouldn't judge a fighter by one fight Gus. Calzaghe won. Roy was knocked unconcious.
Calzaghe is 34 with seriously fucked up hand problems and year or so left in his career, he's most probably past it too, although he remains unbeaten
