In a nutshell, a Chicago attorney who was previously Chief of Staff for former First Lady Michelle Obama inappropriately acted on Smollett's behalf in an effort to have the case turned over to the FBI.
I know that one person stepped aside and allowed an independent person to look at the case because they felt compromised. I think that is a fair decision to make.
