If Taylor beats Baranchyk, I agree that Taylor vs Prograis is a huge fight.

On a side note, I would love Mikey Garcia to face the winner of that one

Yep at 140 there is much quality work to be done and Mikey should have jumped right into it where he's already staked a claim.

Also, there is talks of a Ramirez-Hooker unification. If that happens then 140 is doing it right. And again, Mikey is missing the action. His legacy would be much better to clean out that division rather than go for broke at welter.

    Josh Taylor vs Ivan Baranchyk

Edinburgh southpaw Josh Taylor will look to become a world champion when he takes on Ivan 'The Beast’ Baranchyk in Glasgow tonight.

The 'Tartan Tornado', a member of the McGuigan stable, battles undefeated IBF super-lightweight champion Baranchyk in the main event at the SSE Hydro that doubles up as a World Boxing Super Series semi-final.

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Taylor, 14-0 as a professional with 12 knockouts, earned his title shot by dominating American Ryan Martin at the same venue in November en route to a comprehensive seventh-round stoppage.

Freddie Roach-trained Belarusian Baranchyk won the vacant IBF strap by beating Anthony Yigit in the quarter-finals.

One of these fighters will have a chance to become unified super-lightweight champion, with WBA titlist Regis Prograis awaiting in the final after halting Kiryl Relikh inside six rounds in Lafayette, Louisiana last month.

Taylor vs Baranchyk takes place tonight at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.

The main event is scheduled to get underway at 10pm at the earliest, depending on how the undercard fights progress.

The chief support for the bout is a meeting between Japanese sensation Naoya ‘The Monster’ Inoue and Emmanuel Rodriguez.

    Naoya Inoue vs Emmanuel Rodriguez

Naoya ‘The Monster’ Inoue meets Emmanuel Rodriguez in the semi-finals of the World Boxing Super Series tonight with world title gold also up for grabs.

Inoue is already a three-weight world champion having won world titles at light-flyweight and junior bantamweight before adding the WBA regular bantamweight title to his collection with a devastating 70-second stoppage of Juan Carlos Payano last October.

Unbeaten in 17 professional bouts with 15 ended by knockout, the Japanese powerhouse is already regarded as one of the world’s most exciting fighters and is slowly creeping into the argument for being one of the top five best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet.

Tonight, he takes on Rodriguez for the Puerto Rican’s IBF title, with a place in the increasingly prestigious WBSS final also up for grabs.

Tensions between the two increased this week when Inoue’s father and trainer was shoved by a member of the Rodriguez team at a media workout.

With Rodriguez out to calm the hype surrounding his opponent, it promises to be an explosive counter on a card that also features Scotland’s Josh Taylor fighting for his first world title.

Inoue vs Rodriguez takes place tonight at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.

Josh Taylor meets Ivan Baranchyk on the same night in their WBSS super-lightweight semi-final – with Baranchyk’s IBF title also on the line.

The meeting between the two undefeated fighters will headline the show, with Inoue vs Rodriguez to serve as the chief support on the card.

Ringwalks are likely to take place no earlier than 9pm.

I thought the first round was pretty close but Rodriguez did a bit better. The big question is whether or not Rodriguez can keep his energy level up. His last fight he faded late.

Both fighters throwing hard fast bombs at each other but Rodriguez landed the more effective punches to win the first round.

    Quality fight
